Subject: Cecil Womack
Written By: Henk on 02/02/13 at 4:42 pm
At the age of 65, Cecil Womack has died. He was one of the Womack brothers, who formed a gospel group known as The Valentinos.
He was first married to Mary Wells (in 1967), but divorced her in 1977 to marry Linda Cooke, daughter of Sam Cooke. The two performed under the name of Womack & Womack and had several international hits.
Cecil's death has been confirmed by his brother Bobby.

It saddens me to see that nobody is saddened by his death.

It may just be that not many people remember him. Womack and Womack had zero hits in the US Hot 100 :(
'Teardrops' was a one hit wonder in Canada, where it reached #29 in 1989. I remember it well.
R.I.P. to a great singer.

Yeah, I noticed that, and was slightly surprised.

When you think about it, "Teardrops" isn't really a Womack & Womack song: it's Linda Womack, with only a hint of backing vocals by Cecil.
I actually prefer "Love Wars".

What about "Baby I'm a scared of ya"? ???
I don't remember that song at all, but apparently it made #72 in UK. Not a hit in the US of A, I'm afraid.

I'm one of those that don't remember Womack & Womack at all.

Technically I don't either. I know of them from researching music charts over the years, and to hear Teardrops, I remember it well, but the name Womack and Womack is not a familiar one for me from when Teardrops was popular
