He played the role Of Daniel Day Lewis' father in the Film Last of the Mohicans.........passed of Cancer aged 72. RIP :(

This is sad news. I remember him from that movie. I also remember him from Natural Born Killers and I seem to recall him from an episode of Nash Bridges

If all you know of Russell Means is a couple of movies you should look further. I remember him from the occupation of Alcatraz, the seizing of the Mayflower here in Massachusetts, and the Native American movement. He was the toughest Brave since Crazy Horse. Walk on Russell...walk on :\'(

He was the biggest Native American actor since Iron Eyes Cody.

I saw Means speak at my college just before LOTM was released. He was very charismatic and noble. He spoke about the terrible poverty on the Indian reservations. The next week I saw him in LOTM. I'll never forget him.

He was the biggest Native American actor since Iron Eyes Cody.
Iron Eyes Cody(Espera Oscar de Corti) wasn't a Native American. He was made an honorary Native American, though.

His parents were off the boat Sicilian.
