Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel has died in her sleep last night. The 60-year old was suffering from cancer of the oesophagus, as well as the results of a stroke earlier this year, caused by her long time drug and alcohol addictions.

Kristel broke to international fame in 1974 with her title role in the erotic movie Emmanuelle, a role which she reprised in 8 more movies. She also played parts in Concorde-Airport (1979), The Nude Bomb (1980) and Private Lessons (1981).

Kristel is to be buried in private.

I remember Sylvia in Emmanuele.

As an aside, I like how you Europeans spell "oesophagus".  Here in the states there's only one "o" in esophagus.  :P

Flicks like Deep Throat, The Devil in Miss Jones, Behind the Green Door, Flesh of the Lotus, Liquid Lips, Anyone But My Husband, Debbie Does Dallas, Eruption.... the list goes on and on.  These were hard-core flicks that left nothing to the imagination.

But most of them did have a plot.

In the late 80's and through the '90's to now, porno flicks rarely have a plot, they are (so I am told) simply nonstop action with mindless stuff like "The Houston 620" and Max Hardcore with his "gonzo porn".  8-P

Oddly enough, Ron Jeremy is probably the only porn actor whose career spanned the 1970's (late 70's) in the Golden Age of Porn up until the present.  Dude definitely had staying power.
