Subject: Dick Clark...The Worlds Oldest Teenager...

"American Bandstand's" formula was simple. Clean-cut boys and girls danced to the hottest hits and the newest singles. In between, Clark chatted with the teens, who helped "rate-a-record," turning songs into sensations. Everyone showed up on "American Bandstand," from Elvis Presley to Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry to Chubby Checker.

I just heard about this on the news. So sad to hear of his passing. :\'( :\'(
I know that he hosted the "Pyramid" game show series (mainly during the 1970's and 1980's); I was a huge fan of that when I was growing up. And who could forget the "New Years Rockin' Eve" that he hosted annually? I remember after he suffered his stroke he wasn't quite the same, but he showed determination and continued to do the best job he could with that. I loved watching him on TV.
He also hosted some weekly radio shows, including "Rock & Roll Remember" (or something like that), which I periodically listened to.
R.I.P. to a well-respected icon. :\'( :\'(

I remember American Bandstand when I was a kid. Anyone who was, or wanted to be, anyone played the show. Dick Clark took a tough stand when he showcased black artists as opposed to white artists doing black music, and had black kids dancing on his show. People today don't know how much courage it took to do that. There were places that wouldn't allow it to be shown. It you ever saw "Hairspray" that was pretty much the story. RIP to a real music pioneer.

I'll never watch "New Year's Rockin' Eve" again. I only watched it for Dick Clark. May he rest in peace.

Let's not forget his awesome long running show, Dick Clark's Bloopers & Practical Jokes which also featured Ed McMahon.
I bet they are playing all sorts of crank pranks in the great beyond. ;D

The $25,000 Pyramid was one of my favourite shows when I was a kid. I used to look forward to days off school just so I could watch it. Dick Clark will be missed greatly. There will never be a TV host quite like him.
R.I.P. to the host of the greatest game show ever!

I, too, liked watching the $25,000 Pyramid. He also hosted the $100,000 Pyramid, which was on at night; from 1986-88 I would watch it regularly. The reruns of both Pyramids have been airing on Fridays from 4-9pm Pacific Time (7-midnight Eastern; 10 back-to-back episodes) on GSN.

Dick Clark's passing has disturbed me greatly. He was one of the most pivotal figures of my childhood. And he was one of those people that I never thought would ever die. This is so tragic and I miss him dearly. Another part of my childhood is gone. :\'( :\'( :\'(

I used to watch American Bandstand and sometimes I listened to DC's Top 30 countdown. I dunno, I never had any persuasions about Dick Clark either way. He certainly managed to appear youthful well into his sixties.
