Subject: Goodbye Mother Bear.... Thanks for SOOO many Childhood memories!

Written By: 2kidsami on 02/27/12 at 4:44 pm

Jan Berenstain died today :\'(  I not only lived with Mother Bear, Father Bear, Brother Bear and Sister Bear throughout my childhood in books.  But I got to relive them through reading those same books to my children and watching the PBS cartoon.  I am saddened...

My kiddo is sad about this.  He loves those books, and I think they've taught him a lot of important lessons.

I am also really sad to hear this.  I had so many of those books when I was little.

Yes, I was sorta flooded with grief... I am not sure why, because I know none of those books are going anywhere.  She will be forever remembered.

Like I said, we have her books and they will probably never die.  8)  What a legacy.

Yep.  We also used to read them at my grandma's house.  She had a bunch, just for us grandkids.  Good times. :)

Always wanted to live in a tree house like theirs.  Somehow seemed roomy.  ;D

Two of my favorites in the series were:

Cedar Point Amusement Park (In Northern Ohio - Sandusky) used to have an exhibit/attraction Berenstain Bears Country (still active in 1998 brochure).  Don't know if it's still there or not.

I wonder if she and dear departed Stan ever did a children's book about dealing with loss. It would certainly come in handy at a time like this! RIP Jan, I know you and Stan are hibernating in the Lord's arms now, together again at last.

Your Pal,
Doc
