Written By: nally on 02/27/11 at 5:32 pm
Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famer Duke Snider, who spent most of an 18-year career (1947-64) with the Dodgers franchise, has passed away at the age of 84... apparently of "natural causes."

Snider spent his first 16 seasons (1947-62) with the Dodgers franchise, helping the team to its only championship in Brooklyn (1955) and to its first L.A. championship (1959). His uniform number, 4, has been retired by the team. In 1963 he played for the New York Mets (who were in their 2nd year of existence) and in 1964, his final season, he played for the San Francisco Giants, and retired at season's end. Snider was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980.
Snider is survived by his wife Beverly, with whom he had four kids.
R.I.P. Duke...you will be greatly missed.
