My thoughts exactly. :\'( :\'(
I loved his song "Baker Street" which incorporates great use of the saxophone.

The synth riff from "Baker Street" flashed through my mind, also the chorus from Stealer's Wheel, "Stuck in the Middle With You." Rafferty was an under-appreciated artist. I guess he had quite a battle with the booze.

This blows.
Man, he laid down some classic stuff. Stuck in the Middle Wit You was such a catchy tune, and Baker Street had some awesome riffs.
Thanks for all the tunes and good memories, Gerry. :)

Very sweet of you, Belle. I hope Gerry is cremated and his ashes scattered end-to-end on Baker Street(Pretty sure that's the one in London, Holmes will understand). Farewell, Mr. Rafferty.
Your Pal,
Doc

Rafferty died peacefully at home, with his daughter Martha at his bedside.
It is understood his funeral will be held in Paisley later this month.
Rafferty had recorded and toured with Billy Connolly as part of the Humblebums, before forming Stealers Wheel with his friend Joe Egan in 1972.

Sad, but not altogether surprising, given his poor state of health over the last several years...
'City To City' is still one of the most coherent albums I've had the pleasure of hearing...

I heard about this news whilst browsing through my Mail Online iPhone App. The news is very shocking and Baker Street was one of my favourite songs from the 1970s.
RIP Gerry.

I was devastated when I read this in the news this morning! Gerry Rafferty was an extremely talented singer/songwriter/musician and I loved all of his work! My all-time favorite song is one that nobody has mentioned yet... 'Right Down The Line'... and it brings back wonderful childhood memories for me whenever I hear it!
R.I.P Gerry...you will sure be missed! :\'( :\'( :\'(

I just wish Rafferty isn't stuck in the middle in afterlife (Purgatory).
Okay...that was TOO soon...but Baker Street will never be the same again!

Oddly enough, Gerry's biggest hit in Holland was neither "Baker Street" nor "Stuck In The Middle With You". Instead it was this one:
