Legendary Canadian actor, Leslie Nielsen, passed away today at the age of 84.  He was best known for his roles in Airplane and the Naked Gun series.

My heart is broken. Leslie may well have been the funniest man ever to grace the big screen. Some probably don't remember Wrongfully Accused from about '98, but that's my favorite of his movies, spoofing Presumed Innocent, Patriot Games, The Fugitive, Braveheart, Mission: Impossible, and Titanic, just to name a few! Perhaps a few years from now we should make a film parodying all of his movies, and we can call it Leslie Nielsen: Dead And Loving It! Of course, he and Lloyd Bridges will watch from above and he'll hear, "Looks like you picked the wrong week to quit livin'!
Gad, I'm gonna miss him.

Nielsen was getting geared up for the best work in a sixty-year career when most movie stars are thinking about retiring.  He was a comic genius.  Deadpan without parallel.  So sad to see him go, but grateful for all the laughs he gave me from "Airplane" to the "Naked Gun" series.

Oh, no... Leslie has always been one of my favorite comedic actors and I loved him in the Naked Gun series. Plus, he also played Lucas in the series finale of The Golden Girls... his wonderful sense of humor will certainly be missed... :(

He was a favorite of mine.  He was one of those guys that you just could feel was a nice guy and someone who you could relate to (whether or not you actually could, that was what he brought to his roles.)  I also felt a kinship to him because he was deaf in one ear (as am I practically) and he was still able to produce quality work. 

I saw him in Forbidden Planet a couple years back, not the typical comedic buffoon that he was known for in later years but he was a fine actor then too.  So odd to see him so young.

Anyway, he will be missed by many.  For some reason I kept hoping for one more Naked Gun movie, even though O.J. Simpson couldn't have possibly been in it... oh well... Thanks for the many years of laughs and entertainment.

He will live on as the king of spoofs, and I will miss him greatly.  He also had a recurring role on the 90s series 'Due South' and had a great non comedic role as a vicious mob boss in the 1986 comedy 'Soul Man'

I beleive I saw all his films,man he was such a pisser,I'm going to miss him.  :(

When Airplane first came out and it said that Leslie Nielson was in it, my first reaction was, "He's a dramatic actor not a comic actor." After that & the Naked Gun series, I saw him in the movie Nuts with Barbra Streisand, my reaction was, "He's a comic actor, not a dramatic actor." But basically it means that he could do both-a sign of a GREAT actor. By the time the Naked Gun series came along, he developed that "Look." He could just crack me up by a look. (Jack Benny is the only other one I can recall who had that "Look.")

Back in jail again! He was convicted in a Las Vegas robbery case, and in late 2008 was sentenced to 33 years in prison, with possibility of parole in 2017 or so... according to what I found on Wikpedia.

The murder and his trial back in 1995 pretty much put the kibosh on hopes of The Naked Gun 44 1/4. Fortunately, Leslie had plenty of other work with Spy Hard and Wrongfully Accused. Hopefully soon we'll see ZAZ doing a tribute, Leslie Nielsen: Dead And Loving It!
