Patricia Neal, the Oscar-winning actress whose life off-screen life contained as much drama, tragedy, and inspiration as any of her film or theater roles, died Sunday at her home in Martha's Vineyard of lung cancer; she was 84.

I heard about that this morning. I always liked her. But, I didn't know that she was married to Roald Dahl. Despite all her health problems and tragedies, she did live a long life.

I didn't know she was married to Roald Dahl either. I remember seeing her at the oscars after her stroke. It felt like such a triumphant moment. She did survive a lot.

Heh, me neither! I know I read a lot of his books as a youngster.
She did survive a lot.
She certainly did, and now she'll be greatly missed. :(

I just watched her in "The Fountainhead" with Gary Cooper.
Interesting match, she and Roald Dahl!

I remember her in Hud, there isn't anyone who could, or still can, do sultry like her. RIP :\'(

**SPOILER ALERT**
Hud is one of my favorites. Neal played Alma the housekeeper. At the end Hud's lost everything. His father is dead. His brother joins the army. Alma is the one I hoped would come back and they could fall in love and start a life together. Instead you just see him slam the door and walk over the icebox for a beer...and that is going to be his fate.
