Subject: RIP, Ronnie James Dio
Written By: LyricBoy on 05/16/10 at 3:35 pm
Legendary rock vocalist Ronnie James Dio, who was lead singer for bands like Richie Blackmore's Rainbow, and who replaced Ozzie Osbourne in Black Sabbath, bit it this morning at the age of 67.

According to his wife, he had been battling stomach cancer for quite some time.
Amongst other things, Ronnie is credited with being the first rocker to use the "Devil Horns" hand sign. He got it from his grandmother, who had a saying that went with it (I forget the saying at this moment though). Ronnie has been a fixture in Rock 'n' Roll since way back in 1957. :o
RIP Ronnie... you rocked our world. :)

Wow, this one was a shocker. We lost another great one this morning.
Rest in peace, man. You will be missed.

R.I.P. RJD. See you in the Great Beyond!

I forgot how old Dio was. Stomach cancer is horribly painful, so I'm sure he's happier now.

This is a sad and dark day in the world of rock and metal. One of -- if not THE -- greatest hard rock/metal voice ever has been silenced. I'm listening to the Black Sabbath "Dio Years" CD right now.
RIP Ronnie... a man who made rainbows cool and made both heaven and hell worth singing about. :\'(

Rock and roll is for the young, they say. Who are they? Who cares. I'm listening to Holy Diver right now; he was thirty-nine when he recorded that album...
That just blows my mind...
Sail away, Ronnie. Sail away. Thanks, man...

NO! This is a sad day. He made some great music. I have several albums by DIO, my favourite still 'The Last in Line' and I treasure them all.

The world will be less rocking, without him.
Rest in peace, Ronnie.

I noticed that Lionel Mertens has already written his Dio tribute parody ("Rio" by Duran Duran). Before anybody takes a stab at "Day-O," let me do it first, please. It was the best song I could think of for a RJD tribute... and plus, who wouldn't want to parody "that song from Beetlejuice?" ;D
Still a sad, sad day in rock and metal. He will certainly be missed. :\'(

Whenever I bit the big one, I want them to play AC/DC's "Back in Black" when they roll my casket into the church. :)

I'm requesting the Lacrimosa from Moazart's Requiem, but they'll probably play Weslie Willis, "Rock 'n' Roll McDonalds"!

Are there not other things going on in this world that they could be doing? I don't know, more worthwhile things. If they put as much energy into something like feeding the poor or housing the homeless they would have those problems solved.
