Subject: Art Clokey

Art Clokey has died. He was 88 years old.
While most will probably not immediately recognize the name, everybody knows his greatest creations: Gumby and Davey & Goliath.
It all started in 1955, when Art was attending the USC film school, and decided to creaty a parody of Fantasia. He took some jazz music, a bunch of clay, and with the heavy use of Dutch Angles, created Gumbasia. The short (which is in the public domain at http://www.archive.org/details/Gumbasia) got the attention of a movie producer, who decided to finance his next project, which we all know today as Gumby.
In 1960, he created a series of shorts for the United Lutheran Church in America, which is known as Davey & Goliath. I have several of these DVDs in my collection, and they are as entertaining today as they were when I first saw them 35+ years ago.
His son is currently working to bring back Davey & Goliath.

I love Eddie Murphy as Gumby on SNL!
;D
Rest in peace, Art.
