Oddball comedian Henry Gibson, of Laugh In! and The Blues Brothers fame (he was the Illinois Nazi Party commandant who drove the Ford Pinto wagon) ;D , died from cancer today at the age of 73.
Henry you gave us all alot of laughs. You can bet your bippy about that! :)

I liked Henry too, not just on reruns of Laugh-In, but he did some film roles well into the 80's as well. The one that jumps out at me is his dramatic turn in 1987's rom-com Switching Channels, where he played Ike Roscoe, a gentle magician who was driven to kill a drug dealer to avenge his son's death(only the dealer turned out to be a dirty cop, and he spends most of the movie on death row, praying for a call from the governor). Rent the movie, his is the only role with gravitas in this laugh-fest. I'll miss him.
Your Pal,
Doc

As do I, apparently he did alot films with John Landis and Joe Dante, as well.
But I think that he will best be remembered for his performance, in the film, The Blues Brothers.
Remember the scene in Gremlins 2, where a employee gets fired for smoking? That was him, as well.
Rest in peace, Henry, you'll be missed by all.

I can't tell you how many times I would pick up a flower and say:
"The Flower" by Henry Gibson.
I'm sure only fans of Laugh-in will remember that.
So sad. :\'( :\'( :\'(

oh no!! Poor guy. I had no idea he was so ill. :o :-[ :-\\
I always loved seeing him on the Laugh-In reruns. In the "Party" scenes he would always be dressed as a clergyman and saying witty things. And I also remember his "Poetry Corner" scenes where he'd hold up a flower, as Cat mentioned.
He would have turned 74 next Monday.

Gibson also provided the voice of Wilbur in "Charlotte's Web" and played the priest in "Laugh-in" which is ironic since he DID go to Catholic School and is a Catholic in real life.
