Merce Cunningham, one of the legends of modern avant-guard dance, has died at the age of 90. As a dancer with Martha Graham, He was considered one of the greatest American dancers. He co-founded the Merce Cunninham Dance Company with John Cage.

Thanks for posting this. Merce Cunningham (April 16, 1919 -- July 26, 2009) was the best friend and lover of John Cage, my favorite composer. It is a sad day, but not surprising. Cunningham was 90 years old.

He frequently collaborated with Cage and virtuoso pianist David Tudor as a team. He worked with esoteric composers such as Dimas de Melo Pimenta and world-famous artists such as Jasper Johns.
