I always liked her and the roles she portrayed.
I loved how Maude stuck it to Archie, and that she wasn't afraid to speak her mind.

She didn't accept the traditional role of a woman on TV and led the way for the expansion of opportunities for other actresses as well.

She'll be sorely missed.  :\'(

Sad news, I had just posted a similar thread under the 80s as that's when most of the Golden Girls took place, her brand of comedy will be missed, I used to watch the Golden Girls as a child all the time, one of my first exposures to comedy.

I am just so sad about Bea's passing.  As many of you know, the Golden Girls is my favorite show, and Bea is just so amazing in it.  I really can't believe how hard her death has hit me - but it really has.  :\'(

Golden Girls was a show I grew up watching.  First Estelle, now Bea  :\'(

She was a wonderful actress and made the whole world laugh with her sarcastic quips at Rose.  She will be truly missed :\'(

I saw the 1974 version of the play "Mame" with Lucielle Ball. It was an okay film, slightly unappreciative, but Bea Arthur did well.

Lucy was known as "Queen of the B Movies" well before she was LUCY.

She was such a talent, so unique and wonderful.  I enjoyed her in Maude and also in Golden Girls.

She was a wonderful actress with great comedic timing.  I'm glad we have syndication and DVDs to keep her great lines alive.  I enjoyed Maude, but was too young to really appreciate it (took until recently to realize that Rue was on Maude as well).  I, like many others, knew her best as Dorothy.
