He played Commissioner Gordon in the first four Batman movies, starting with Tim Burton's Batman in 1989. RIP, Commissioner Gordon. You will live on in Gary Oldman. :\'(

Wow, that is bad news. Pat has been in hundreds of TV and movie roles. Great actor, always delivered a solid and believeable performance.

He was a great actor and will be sorely missed :(
He moved me to tears for his performance in the St. Elsewhere episode "Brothers" where he played a man who helped ease his dying brother's pain. To me, the best role he ever played

I remember he also appeared in a lot of Clint Eastwood's movies, I think he might have been part of Clint's stock company of character actors.

Yeah, he was part of Clint's posse, fo sho. I remember his part in The Gauntlet, and the role he played in Sudden Impact. Both superb performances.
