Levi Stubbs, Jr., died Oct. 17 2008 at his home in Detroit after a long serious illness including cancer and a stroke -- that forced him to stop performing in 2000. He was best known as the lead vocalist of the famed Motown R&B group The Four Tops.

I knew he'd been ill, but it's still very saddening to hear that he's passed away... :\'(

Hardly a surprise, but still a colossal loss to music in general...
A lot of folk may not even have known his name, but there was no mistaking that voice...RIP Levi...

If I recall correctly, he was the voice of the plant in the 'Little Shop of Horrors' movie.
