he introduced me to the word "taxonomize."
anyone who hasn't seen the buckley/chomsky debate from the vietnam war, 68 or thereabouts, really owes it to him/herself. WWF Smackdown has nothing on that particular classic moment in television. :o

I'd say he was more libertarian than conservative.
Firing Line was the grandfather of all those loudmouth political debate shows from McLaughlin Group to Hannity & Colmes.

That's very interesting. Last year for my History of American Thought class I read God, and Man at Yale, and I found myself agreeing with some, but not all, of what Mr.Buckley had to say. I find it very difficult to write about Mr.Buckley with out mentioning his Lex Luther of course I mean Gore Vidal. I like Vidal because I read his autobiography, and in it he talks about his struggles with his sexuality, his grandfather who was a blind ( but very well respected) senator form Oklahoma and his days with JFK. I also admire his superb knowledge of history. Having said all that I ask you, what must Mr. Vidal's reaction be to this news?
