I haven't heard anything about this yet,but I know he has been battleing prostate cancer for awhile now. He had such great songs as Leader of The Band, Same Old Lang Syne & Longer :\'(

I just read it on cnn.com. How very sad! I didn't know he had been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. He was only 56. "Same Old Lang Syne" is one of my favorite songs.

His 1987 song 'Lonely in Love' is an all-time favourite of mine, one I grew up listening to. It's still one of my favourite ballads ever!

The only song of his I liked was "Language of Love" (more typical '80s pop/rock), but it's sad when anyone you know of dies, especially unexpectedly. I didn't even know he was sick.

His music was really big in the 1976-1982 time perios. I think his "Twin Sons from Different Mothers" album with Tim Weissberg was probably his best.
A couple of years ago I read that he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, and that the prognosis even then was bad. I'm glad that he was able to get as much time as he did.
RIP Dan, you did it right. :)

He died at 56, that is still a young age.
He will be sadly missed.

I just heard about it on the news last night. Very sad!!
And the guy was only 56 years old... more specifically, 100 days older than my mom. Poor guy. :\'( :\'( :\'(

I knew he had been diagnosed a couple of years back, but despite encouraging signs, the illness finally claimed him... :\'(
A fine singer/songwriter and, by all accounts, a genuine human being who'll be sorely missed...
