He also did a song with Dwight Yoakam, called "The Streets of Bakersfield".
It's one of my favorite songs, and I'm listening to it right now.
That is a good song yes :)

...which was covered by his fans, The Beatles. :) Buck Owens was one of the classic country artists that I grew up hearing on my parents' stereo, so I'm somewhat partial to his music. In some ways, I see his stuff as a precursor to the country-rock momvement of the 70s that brought us The Eagles, etc. Long live the Bakersfield Sound...

Buck Owens was one of the two hosts (Along with Roy Clark) of the "country bumpkin" show Hee Haw. I remember watching Hee Haw as a kid. That show rocked. 8)
Buck, RIP. I bet you're a pickin' and a grinnin' with the angels now. :)

Wow, that is really sad. I'm not a big country fan, but I always liked him, and the other more progressive ones like him - Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, etc. I remember growing up watching Hee Haw - "I'm a pickin' and I'm a grinnin'." Sad news indeed.

Very sad news...he was an excellent performer...
He also did another good song called "Act Naturally".
...which, sadly, is all he's really known for over here and even that was mostly via The Beatles' cover (which must have been one of their last)...

I practically grew up on 'Hee-Haw' and other comedy-variety shows of the 70s. Buck had been sick for a while, but it is a sad loss that another icon has passed on. :\'( Hopefully, we will all see him in Heaven.
