I was surprised how sad I felt when George Harrison died. The Beatles felt almost like an extended part of my family. It's sort of like the way losing Frank Zappa twelve years ago was like losing an old friend.

Yeah, right. I had already told you that Rutland is famous for being the "land of ruts".

I didn't know there was a Rutland, England. See, you do learn something everyday.

"All things must pass..." Indeed they must, George. Although I wasn't around when the Beatles came out, I was always familiar with and aware of them, growing up with parents that listened to a lot of old music. When I heard of George Harrison's passing I almost started crying. I love the Beatles now and listen to them frequently. I loved George's come-back album, Cloud Nine. My favorite song on that album was "I Got My Mind Set on You." My mom told me when I was 3-year-old I used to sing it.
RIP George, you are sadly missed on Earth....

Who else but the English would name a place "Rutland"?
Rutland, VT, is one of many little cities in New England I have never been to. Why? It's not on the way to anything, and there's no reason to go there.
I remember one time I went to Pawtucket, RI, just for the sake of going. I was bored. I mean, man, was I ever bored!

I think at that when Eric Idle et al did The Rutles Rutland changed from being the smallest county in England to being part of Leicestershire. Hence all the Rutland Weekend Television stuff as well.
Perhaps Paul, Philip or maddog can confirm this as it was in the early seventies before I was allowed to watch such stuff on the TV
