Yet another brilliant comedian gone  :( :( :(

I saw the Two Ronnies when they toured here back in the 70's and I loved that and Porridge and Open All Hours...just to name a few  :)

The whole of the UK will be lighting up four candles in memory of Ronnie Barker.

'Yur...'andles fer forks!'

(And it was actually revealed not long ago that he wrote that sketch!)

Another of the old-guard departs, but at least we still have many superb preserved performances of the man...RIP

Ronnie Barker submitted the script (with many others, all classics) as Gerald Wiley.

One of the old comedians I absolutely loved. 'Porridge' is probably my favourite sitcom ever. He made comedy look so easy and effortless and will never be replaced.

At least he died in the best way a man could possibly die. Peacefully with his wife beside him.  8)

R.I.P Ronnie.

Apart for the Tribute shown last night for Ronnie Barker, the BBC also showed the Porridge episode when Fletcher and Godber try to get through a night's lock up with the help of a little imagination.

I've definitely heard of Ronnie Barker.  I knew he was a big comedy star in Britain, but not much else.  Barker never made much of a splash over here on the other side of the big ditch...not like Benny Hill, Dudley Moore, or Monty Python.
In any case, it's always sad to see a funny man go.

Barker was my personal fave of the two Ronnies. So sad to see him go.

Porridge was one of the earliest comedies I remember seeing as a kid and reruns today still crack me up.

That was because he wanted the script to be treated on its own merits, rather than people saying it was funny because he'd written it - a humble man as well as a funny one.

I saw Ray Davies (Kinks) on Tuesday night, the day Ronnie's death was announced. Ray dedicated Days to Ronnie, which was a nice touch - it got a big cheer from the audience too.

A very sad loss.
