For those who don't know, he was a very accomplished English actor who died at age 97. I love watching his movies, and will continue to. :\'(

Sad news indeed, he did win an Oscar for his role in Ryan's Daughter.

I remembered "Ryan's Daughter", but John Mills wil always be better known as the father of Juliet and Hayley Mills. A big loss. :\'(

I heard this when I woke up this morning - very sad but I am glad he lived a long a fruitful life.
I met him for about 20 seconds in London in 1989 - I was helping my postman husband with his rounds and we had to get a registered letter signed for. Sir John was very sweet when he answered the door (he lives just a few doors away from Jane Seymours mum).
For the whole day I was thrilled to have his "autograph" in my pocket - till we got back to the depot and had to hand over the registered mail reciepts !

Very fitting that an archetypal English man passes away on St. George's Day...
Very much one of, if not the, last great actors of his time...RIP...
