If you are using a desktop, put your cursor on the mask and it tells you. The whole thing is a little counter intuitive.

Indeed. The point of emojis is to clarify the meaning of a written text. It's the substitute for facial expressions and the masks don't get that done at all, making them pointless....x_x

That's what I initially thought. But today is apparently Guy Fawkes Day which the masks were for, so hopefully they will be gone by tomorrow.

Now that the emoticons are back to normal, it while a while to readjust to the fact that they're bald. After the Halloween hats, my image of them was with hair, or at least something on their head ;D
Oh well, Christmas is soon! :P

Yes, for Canada it's in October, but the U.S. has it in November, during the 4th Thursday (which this year is the 22nd).

The masks are taken from the masks used in the film "V Fro Vendetta", and has now become use of stylised "Guy Fawkes" masks, with moustache and pointed beard, has become widespread internationally among groups protesting against politicians, banks, and financial institutions. The masks both conceal the identity and protect the face of individuals and demonstrate their commitment to a shared cause.

What I meant was he wasn't beloved by many? ???
