Subject: Profanity and language filter
Written By: Powerslave on 09/03/05 at 10:29 pm
What's going on with this? I was reading over a few threads just now and every single word that contains the letter combination A S S in some way is being changed! I can understand the filter changing A S S into "wazoo" to protect the delicate (but really, for Heaven's sake, that's going a bit far, isn't it?), but does it have to change words like p@ss, m@ss and m@ssive into pwazoo, mwazoo and mwazooive? That's just dumb. What if I wanted to start a thread about a donkey?

What's funny is that anyone would think the word "@ss" offensive enough to want to filter it out in the first place.

This thread in PPP :
http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php/topic,12485.0.html
suggested the opposite, that the 'wazoo' word ::) was going to be lifted from the banned list rather than be changed into 'butt' (why it was ever changed into the remainder of a cigarette was beyond me anyway) :P
I have seen this before though, and quite recently. In the 2000's I started a thread called "10.5 - What a load of crap"
In that thread I wrote the words "rode the space shuttle"
When I looked at the thread a day later, that string of words had changed to something quite bizarre, I wish I could remember what it it was now, it didn't sem to make any logical sense...
Anyway, I chose modify and fixed it back and it has stayed ok ever since. Wierd :o

How were able to use the word "crap", but I can't use to word "wazoo"?

I just think it will be funny to see the reactions of people who haven't experienced it yet...
I'm sure it wasn't intentional though... :-\\

I was puzzled when I saw "mwazoo disease" on one of my posts. Is that one of those obscure tropical diseases from Africa? I don't remember mentioning it, and why would I mention it in regard to New Orleans. Well, before I reached for my medical dictionary, I saw another post refering to "harwazoo." As we say here in Mwazoo (M a s s achusetts), "dawn breaks over Marblehead."
I was refering to "m a s s disease," and the other poster typed the word harr a s s."
The auto sensor is at it again. There will be no a s s, just the ol' wazoo!
When did this start?
I noticed we could finally use the proper name "Dick," but...
I didn't mean to give the moderator an swazoo. I'll pwazoo by the Lend A Wing Up section. Such restriction can turn your post into a nonsensical morwazoo. It wazoousmes you're a lad or a lwazoo without any clwazoo, even if you're from Cohwazooet, Mwazooachusetts!
Anyway, I don't like the way some medically proper anatomical terms are filtered. Is the word "vagina" still censored? Nope.

I'm thirsty for a glwazoo of Bwazoo Ale before I walk my Bwazooet hound across the overpwazoo of the wazooabet River.
My sister used to have a crush on David Cassidy.
I like that bar where the dancers where tassles.
I'm trying to think of ass words by free-association, but I think I need some assistance!
Sounds like Snoop Dogg-style slang

BTW, there really an Assabet River in Massachusetts, it runs from Concord through Westboro, you bet your ass!
I was thought that barrier island in Virginia had a funny name, Assawoman!

ugh... I removed a lot of stuff that should have never been there, and ass got in there somehow. Weird, very weird. Guess it was funny though. I totally missed these threads about it until now too... I think the lack of the sleep from the newborn is starting to drive me slowly insane.

I pity you. Mine's 3 1/2 months, and she's been sleeping thru the night since she was 4 weeks old.

You can. Hit "reply with quote" then highlight the entire thing and then right click and hit copy. Then go to where you want to post and right click again and hit copy. I hope this makes sense. If not, let me know I will try to explain it better.

Little tip - get your son used to falling asleep on his own in his cot now. We got that bit wrong in the early days and made a rod for our backs.

Oh yeah. This is essential. We had Jazynthe in a cot in her own room with the light off and the door closed as soon as she was home from hospital. Since then we have never had much trouble getting her to sleep.

Did Chucky become a father recently? This is the first time I'm hearing about it. It might be coming a bit late, but let me just say....
CONGRATULATIONS!

I don't have any kids (newborn or otherwise) and I *still* can't sleep.
Now how is it you get your kids to sleep? A cot in a dark room with the door closed?? Maybe I'll try that. ;D I'm so tired and I can't stay asleep. I'm beginning to feel like I'm in a Freddy Kruger movie.

Apparently I was unaware of this "wazoo" nonsense from a few weeks ago (even though I come here every single day)... you mean to tell me that every word that had an "a-s-s" substring had those letters changed to "Wazoo"?! :o ::) ??? :o
