Written By: ktelqueen on 04/13/05 at 2:42 am

hey,Chucky..any idea why users sometimes diasappear from the bottom of the screen(who's on-line) while sending a pm?
does it have anything to do with a time issue? ???

It says "Users active in last 5 minutes", so I'm guessing if you don't refresh this page after 5 minutes have passed, your name gets wiped off that list...  ???

that's exactly what happens.  Since the web is what is known in computer circles as "stateless" the website only knows when you've last been here.  It assumes if you haven't hit a page on the site in five minutes, you're no longer around.  It also assumes your around even when you're not (you just hit one page, saw nothing interesting and loaded another site 30 seconds later, you're still recorded as "here" for another 4 minutes and 30 seconds).  A better title for that section, would be something like, visitors in the past 5 minutes.
