Subject: cats or dogs?
Do you prefer cats or dogs, or does it matter?
I hate cats/love dogs
I like dogs a little bit better but love both
Depends on the dog breed - overall I'm neutral on cats
I love dogs and cats equally
I hate dogs and cats
I couldn't care less but I don't hate them

I've tried to cover various viewpoints to define exactly what people think, rather than just "yes/no cats/dogs" which can be unfairly misleading!
Oh, and "allergic" doesn't count!

I like dogs a little bit better but love both, and vice versa.

I'm with you, IndyGent. We had two brother cats...Ralph & Sam (Named for the looney toons characters) and when Ralph was killed earlier this year we got 2 kittens...a brother and sister named Buddy & Bubbles. Sam LOVES teaching them stuff! Cats get the edge from me also for the simple fact that IMO, they are cleaner...but I DO like dogs also. What about snakes!?
Subject: Re: cats or dogs?
I love all animals (with a special fondness for snakes...) But cats will always be my favorite. It may sound silly, but no matter what kind of a mood I'm in, if I see a cat, it's automatically better than it was before.

Is this a game? Anyway, I love all animals. It really gets to me how humans think they have more of a right to space on this planet......OOOooo!! Don't get me started! >:(

There was not a category that fit - this was the closest...
I don't hate dogs as such - I love dogs that don't bark (or don't bark much) - it's just that my house is surrounded by dogs that bark for no apparent reason, and their owners never do anything about it.
So it's probably the owners I hate more...... :(
Subject: Re: cats or dogs?
I like dogs a little bit better but love both. The only reason why is because we've always owned dogs. Well, one time we owned a cat, but we had to give her away because our landlord didn't want us to have her. :( A year and a half later, our landlord brought over a puppy and said we could keep him because she picked him out. ::)

I have both a pooch and a kitty....and would not take anything for either one of them....they are my best buddies...and keep me warm at nite.....animals do not judge...they just love you for who you are! ;)

The above about sums it up for me. Dogs are nice to look at, but messy to care for. Cats are much cleaner. I've shared a sandwich and a glass of milk with a cat (okay it wasn't my intent, but I left the room for a sec and hey -- waste not want not.. ::) ) but I would never do that with a dog -- yeeeech! :P

My previous post probably seemed a little harsh, so I will take the opportunity to paraphrase it
SS's comments above sum it up nicely I think.....
Although I tend toward Cats, as that's what we always have had in my households....
Cats can be a little stand-offish (although my current cat, Fern, is the most affectionate cat I have ever had)
Dogs can be a little over-enthusiastic, but I suppose that depends on the breed.....
FB ;)

I tend to lean towards dogs, as doge have been in my family for years. Strange but Fusses cat Fern is really affectionate. I think it is the only cat I have ever known that likes me.
Subject: Re: cats or dogs?
Cats. I'm a lot more used to them.
Dogs are okay.
Here's something I've always wondered about: Why do cat and dog calendars always show only kittens and puppies?
Subject: Re: cats or dogs?

That's my own answer - although it may depend on the breed - I'm not sure. I do know I'm a nut about Shepherds, but most flop-eared dogs I couldn't care less. (Yes, I'm into looks. I like a sharp-looking animal. Flop doesn't cut it. Nonetheless they're the dogs that get all the publicity.)
Main reason I like dogs a bit better is their practicality - almost every dog at least serves as an alarm and probably a deterrent, too. But otherwise I love them the same.

Not true. Don't know which calendars you're seeing, but I've definitely had several years of mostly adult Shepherds on mine - and those are also parts of series which have other breeds.
My question, re: above observation - why do flop-eared dogs get all the parts (almost always Golden Retrievers)? Movies, commercials, shows, etc. Are they less threatening w/those baby ears? I like the tougher looking dogs - they also look smarter. ;)

Would this be the stealthy paw into the glass trick? ;D They learned quickly not to be coffee drinkers. :o

I couldn't agree with you more, Zella! ;) ;D
