There is an EF who was foaled '68, and he may have been a top contender, but there was never an EF who won the Preakness. The EF you're thinking of did get 3rd behind Cannonaro II (sp) in the Derby. Don't know if he ran in the other TC races.

Is there anything against it? Does it say human? Believe me, you can talk jockeys and trainers all you want, but the accolades and memories mainly go to the horses - they are the name of the game! Of course, even a trainer or owner is a "sports figure" the same as any non-playing coach is.

Yes Canonero II was in '71 and shockingly got 1st 2 legs but not the Belmont. (Stranger from South America from nowhere.)
EF won nothing in the TC. I don't know much about him at all, but he might have been a hot 2yo or pre-TC prospect.
Sham was Sec's "nemesis" - he was shadowing him in the Derby and Preak but after sprinting w/him at 1st in the Belmont, he blew out and was last of the 5.
