I have 5 ceiling fans.  We use all of them but the one in the family room, which doesn't sound right so were leery of using it.  And 3 electric ones.  We use those every day.  We have had air conditioning the whole time, we have lived in this house for 2 years.  I live near the ocean as well but it's warm the majority of the time.  I am used to it but still need to cool off  :P
