I'm actually from the suburbs. I'm not sure I've had beef sandwiches from enough different places to make a call, but I'm going to say Portillo's!

How often have you as a man of Chicago already visited Willis Tower (Sears Tower) or John Hancock Center?

When I was in Chicago in 2008, those two observation platforms were just great!!

I was in the Sears Tower's observation deck in September 2008 while on a field trip for my Chicago History class senior year of high school. It was quite amazing! Never been in the John Hancock center though.

My taste in music is really random. But I have to say my favorite artist is Stevie Nicks (with Fleetwood Mac being my favorite band). I've been a fan since I was 12.

Stevie Nicks is fabulous. She is sexy, cool, glamorous. I'm a big fan too. And of Fleetwood Mac's music.  This is a 1973 album with Stevie & Lindsay just before they joined Fleetwood Mac.

If you haven't heard it before, it's pretty good.

I practically worship the ground Stevie walks on! She truly is amazing. I've heard that album before, its good. I love going on youtube and finding demo versions of her songs, they are often much more striking than the released versions.

Like this demo of "Gyspy"...it's unreal. Completely different from the album version but incredible.

It's the third largest in the U.S. (after New York and L.A.), so it's pretty damn busy! I would not want to have to drive down there (or "up" there, I should say. I live south of the actual city.)

I'm not the biggest fan of pizza, but of course I eat it from time to time. There's a chain called Gumby's Pizza near where I go to school and they have these AMAZING things called Pokey Stix, which are like bread sticks made with cheese and garlic. They're absolutely terrible for you, but they taste like heaven. My roommates and I order a large all the time if we're watching a movie or a marathon of something on Netflix. We usually devour the whole thing pretty quickly :D

Here's a picture of what they look like. I think this is a small or a medium though :P

Hey there Apollonia!

--I rarely use Twitter, but I just checked and some famous people I follow are Chris Evans, Nigel Lythgoe, Louis C.K., Coldplay, Bo Burnham, GloZell Green, Daniel Tosh, Joel McHale, Wes Craven, Ryan Seacrest, Jeff Probst, and Nick Thoman. That's a pretty random assortment of celebs, I have to say! :D
--My favorite home-cooked meal is definitely chili! Meat, beans, veggies all in one. Plus cheese and spices to make it extra delicious.
--I wish I could answer the next question, but I don't watch food network :(
--There could be several candidates for the worst food I ever ate. Nothing is jumping out in my memory, but I am going to say anything I ever ate that was black licorice. I think that candy is disgusting!
--Yes, I will!

A big one would have to be Navy Pier.
Then there's several museums like The Field Museum and The Museum of Science and Industry
The Art Institute
Of course it wouldn't be a trip to Chicago without stopping by Millennium Park to take your picture reflected in "the bean"!
Several historic buildings and neighborhoods and a boat tour around the Chicago River if you like that kind of stuff.

The first night we were there, we stayed on The Queen Mary. My dad is a really big fan of ocean liners, especially historic ones. My family didn't tell me at the time that it was one of the most haunted places in America. I found out later from various documentaries :o

After that, we spent about 3 days at Disney Land and I think one day at Universal Studios. This was the most fun part. We also went to Knott's Berry Farm at some point but I think I recall it wasn't that great there.

The final two days of our trip, we visited and stayed with my Great Uncle. He lived in Monrovia. He had a very pretty house that rested on the edge of a cliff :o the view was great though from what I remember.

I have never been to Rhode Island. I did a project on it in 5th grade though :D

Favorite Stevie Nicks album? (solo and with Fleetwood Mac)

Favorite Stevie Nicks album? (solo and with Fleetwood Mac)

Favorite solo album is probably Trouble in Shangri-La

I'm going to have to break down each FM album by Stevie's contributions to decide this.

Fleetwood Mac (1975): Landslide, Rhiannon -- It almost seems strange that Stevie only has two tracks on this album, but they're two timeless classics. "Landslide" is actually my favorite song of all time by any artist, though I prefer various live versions to the original studio recording that appears on this album. "Rhiannon" is also great.
Rumours (1977): Dreams, I Don't Want to Know, Gold Dust Woman -- "Dreams" holds the distinction of being the only U.S. #1 for both FM and Stevie, but it's probably not in my top 10 favorite songs by her. "I Don't Want to Know" is a fun song, but it's not essential Stevie. "Gold Dust Woman" is probably my favorite Stevie track on this album. "Silver Springs" would be my favorite but it was cut from the album upon its original release. It appears on re-releases. Rumours is FM's most well-known and acclaimed album, but as far as Stevie's contributions go, it's not my favorite.
Tusk (1979): Sara, Storms, Sisters of the Moon, Angel, Beautiful Child -- This was a double album, so it has more tracks and hence more Stevie tracks. Being the follow-up to the massively successful Rumours, it had big shoes to fill and as a result it doesn't get as much recognition as the former. And yet I think it features Stevie at her best. "Sara", "Storms", "Sisters of the Moon", and "Beautiful Child" are all superb songs with haunting melodies and awesome lyrics. "Angel" is the only Stevie track on this album I don't care for...it's just not a memorable song and I never got into it. Still, it doesn't take anything away from the brilliance of Stevie's other tracks on this album.
Mirage (1982): That's Alright, Gypsy, Straight Back -- Frankly, "Gypsy" is the only Stevie track on this album I like.
Tango in the Night (1987): Seven Wonders, Welcome to the Room... Sara, When I See You Again -- "Seven Wonders" is my favorite track on this album. "When I See You Again" is a very pretty song, but I don't listen to it that much. "Welcome to the Room... Sara" is just alright.
Behind the Mask (1990): Love is Dangerous, Affairs of the Heart, Freedom, The Second Time -- Is it sad I actually had to LOOK UP what songs were even on this album? The only one I even knew was "Affairs of the Heart". "The Second Time" was probably her strongest contribution on this album, but it's still not Stevie at her best. I just listened to all the tracks and none stood out to me. It's no surprise this was the last studio Album Stevie would participate in with FM for 13 years.
Say You Will (2003): Illume, Thrown Down, Say You Will, Smile At You, Running Through the Garden, Silver Girl, Everybody Finds Out, Destiny Rules, Goodbye Baby, Not Make Believe -- This was sort of a "comeback" album for FM following their reunion tour/live album The Dance and honestly, some of the material was better than their stuff from 1982-90. At least as far as Stevie's contributions go. She really brought it for this album. With the absence of Christine McVie, Stevie got a whopping 10 tracks on this album! "Say you Will", the title track, is a very addicting song. "Illume", "Thrown Down", "Smile At You", "Silver Girl", and "Goodbye Baby" are all strong tracks.

...my vote goes to Tusk :)

Yes, Landslide is a fabulous song. I like any version of hers that I hears.
I like all her songs (or any song) on Rumours
Gypsy is my favorite track on Mirage as well.

Interesting question...and a hard one to answer. Clearly none of them deserved to die, and yet their assassinations contributed to each of their legacies. Altering history could and would have consequences. I will pick RFK for the reason that he is the one I know the least about.

Just reading through your thread here...

I know these places quite well, given that I've lived in the greater L.A. area my whole life. Was this the only time that you visited California, or have you been back since? (If so, where'd you go?)

I sure have! On at least 5 separate occasions that I can recall...once in the Pacific, the rest in the Atlantic

St. Petersburg, FL ('96)
Somewhere in California ('98)
Myrtle Beach, SC ('02)
Cocoa Beach, FL ('04)
Cancun, Mexico ('09) ...technically the Caribbean Sea I think but it still counts as the ocean right?

I'll have to ask my mom where the beach in Cali was.

You have to undergo training for that, correct? I'm not sure if I would be inclined enough.

The closest thing I've done to scuba diving is snorkeling when I went to Cancun in '09. It was horrific...it was raining so the water was super choppy and you couldn't see anything anyway. Then I got motion sickness on the boat ride back to shore.

I'm doing well, how are you?  :)

I'm about to make myself a grilled cheese (pepper jack on whole wheat) which I will dip in french onion soup (and then eat the rest of the soup!)

For lunch today I just had a ham sandwich and some chips. I bring my own lunch to work most days to save money.

If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?

I wouldn't buy anything too extravagant. One luxury I have always wanted was an outdoor hot tub. I guess I would have to buy my own place first though! The rest would go towards paying bills so I never have to worry about not being able to make payments and can live comfortably.

E. One day shopping spree to your local mall. You may fill up one regular sized shopping bag per store.

I just saw your question. I have to go with choice E...it's undoubtedly the best value! But that's almost too easy. Maybe I would go with D instead. It would be nice to go to a restaurant and order any entrée, soup/salad, dessert, and a few cocktails and not have to worry about cost. Depending on the restaurant there might even be enough left over for a second outing :)

I was born right in the middle of that range in October of 1990. I'm curious why you chose August?

I was into Pokemon when it was at its zenith during the '99-00 school year (my 3rd grade year.) Surprisingly I didn't get into the games much, I was more into collecting the cards and various other merchandise and occasionally watched the cartoon. I lost interest in Pokemon by the next school year and never picked it up again. I never played Pokemon Go if you're curious.

October in Chicago is always a mixed bag. This one has actually been really nice for the most part which is great because it's my favorite time of year. Today it was in the low 70s -- warmer than usual for this late in the month. I hope we are in for a mild winter because we've had some nasty ones recently!

I have been swimming in Lake Michigan plenty of times! In Chicago as well as NW Indiana. The water is always cold and dirty looking. I much prefer the ocean :D

I chose August because that is when some schools start the school year .
Did you ever get into Digimon?

Have you ever been snowed in?

When is the 1st time you remember going on a computer?

1) Oh I see. I was born in October so I went to school with kids born between September 1990 and August 1991 barring a few who straddled the borders.

2) Never got into Digimon. I remember when I first heard about it I couldn't believe that such a blatant rip-off of Pokémon was even allowed to exist. Maybe it's not a rip off of Pokémon though, I don't know because I never watched it or got involved with it in any capacity. It seemed similar though?

3) I have never been snowed in (to the point where I couldn't leave my house if I needed to.) That sounds super cozy though as long as it's just for a day or two, I have all the supplies I need, and no emergencies happen! :D

4) My cousins had a computer ever since I could remember because my uncle needed one for work. I bet I went on it to play a game with my cousin at some point when I was really young, but I likely became more acquainted with using them in elementary school. I think I vaguely remember the librarians at the school walking us through how to use Netscape browser but I'm not sure what grade that was. My family didn't actually get a computer until late 1998 or early 1999 when I was in 2nd grade. For the first few years we had it I didn't go on the internet (AOL) much, I mostly used it to play games and write stories in MS Word.

Maybe around 2001ish I started logging into AOL more to chat with classmates. A funny thing I remember about using AOL messenger when I was that young: If someone was signed in, even if they weren't really your friend, you ALWAYS sent them a message. I guess when you're kids it's just that easy to be social and make conversation.

Thanks again for your questions!

I've never really been a sports fan but I'm always happy for the home teams when they make it to championships. The Black Hawks have given Chicago a lot of reasons to celebrate this decade and now it looks like it might be the Cubs' turn! It will be cool to see Wrigleyville go wild if they win the series for the first time in 108 years.

I mentioned in another thread that there is a historical rivalry between Cubs fans and White Sox fans. Cubs fans tend to be north-siders and White Sox fans tend to be south-siders because of where their respective home stadiums are located in the city. I grew up in the south suburbs so most people I knew were White Sox fans. I live on the north side now so I know plenty more Cubs fans. White Sox fans have been pretty gracious about it on Facebook as far as I can see.
