Subject: Looking For A Song Or Two
Written By: CatwomanofV on 07/27/09 at 2:59 pm
Last week, all the kids came over for the day. We all took a walk down to the playground and I spend the entire day taking photos. I took over 400 photos of the kids. :o :o :o Anyway, I am going to turn all of them into a movie but need music to go with them. I want something very light, fun, and has to have a very catchy tune. Some ideas that I am tossing around are:
-Walking on Sunshine-Katrina & The Waves (but that is not exactly one of my favorite songs :-\\ )
-Iko, Iko-The Dixiecups (but I'm not too sure about this one-it does have the catchy tune but the lyrics may not work.)
-In the Summertime-The Kinks (again, the catchy tune is there but the lyrics may not work)
I don't want anything about a beach since we didn't go to the beach and nothing about romance. This is about kids & grandkids just playing and having a good time.
Thanks for everyone's help in advance.

These are oldies, but they might work
Saturday in the park - Chicago
In the summertime - Mungo Jerry
Sunny Days - Lighthouse
Summer in the city - Lovin' spoonful
Joy to the world - Three dog night

I'm guessing... ABC's Playground isn't a viable option? ;) ;D

I always thought this was a care-free groovy tune. Although the lyrics may not be just what you're looking for, they do say we will run, we will crawl...

How about "Playground In My Mind" by Clint Holmes? The song is upbeat and cheerful. There are children singing in the song also. "Sing" by the Carpenters seems like an appropriate song for the occasion too.

"My name is Michael, I have a nickel..." great tune.

Yeah, it is. It was a big hit went it came out then it disappeared. It's surprising that it just faded into obscurity.

I did think of that song.
Like I said, I want something that is just fun with a catchy tune. Please keep the ideas coming. Thanks everyone.

In case anyone is interested, I have finished my movie and I'm in the process of coping it-so all the kids will have a copy for Christmas. The tunes I picked are:
-Hey A Movie-The Muppets (just a snippet of this one.)
-Our House-Madness
-Summertime, Summertime-The Jamies
-Lollipop-the Cordettes
-Girls Just Wanna Have Fun-Cyndi Lauper
-Don't Worry, Be Happy-Bobby Mcferrin
-We Are Family-Sister Sledge
-Wooly Bully-Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs
-Mahna Mahna-The Muppets
-Come On, Get Happy-The Partridge Family
-All Together Now-The Beatles
-Groovin'- The Rascals
-Summer Breeze-Seals & Crofts
-One Love-Bob Marley
-All You Need Is Love-The Beatles
There were others that I put in, took out, rearranged, etc. etc. This is the final cut & the final order of songs.
Thanks everyone for your help.

You're a little late but I will keep it in mind for the next movie-which I'm sure there will be a next one.
