Is it easy to learn the Russian language?

Philip Eno: No, it isn't. In fact, it is VERY hard to learn it. Russians have cyrillic alphabet and very difficult pronunciation. I don't know any non-russian person, who speaks russian perfectly.

I do not think I will make any attempt to.

i heard that in russian, there's a different past tense for an action depending on whether the action's been done before. for instance, there's a difference tense for saying "i opened the window" depending on whether it's the first time the window's ever been opened before that. is this true?

Philip Eno: To learn read in russian it's much easier than to learn talk. Some latvians (I live in Latvia, but I'm russian) can only read in Russian but can't talk. They understand what other people are saying but can't answer.
Tia: No, it isn't.
