Unfortunately, yes, I have been ridiculed for my admiration of Michael Jackson. It was pretty bad. But I'm over it, and I am STILL a Michael Jackson fan and always will be.  I don't like conforming to what people think I should like or things of that nature. (Right now I'm blasting a DeBarge song--that came out three years before I was born!) Michael's music and videos have made me happy since I was a kid and I'm not going to let somebody try to make me stop liking him because they think he's ugly or a homosexuall or a pedophile. I don't find him ugly. I still consider him cute. (But I do like the skinny, pale types--MJ, Prince, etc.) I don't beleive the hype. I just go with my gut and what I beleive in. And I belvieve that Michael is a great, grand artist and I feel bad for people who don't give him or his music a chance. Because they're missing out. Michael Jackson is 49 years old and can still shake it like he did when he was 29.  :D (Though I miss the leather jackets and trousers! LOL!) I mean if Michael conformed to what people think he should do, he'd be inGary, Indiana working a steel mill like his father did back before he got famouS






More of a comment, but I'm suprised this isn't a flame fest since I've been ridiculed many times and there was another MJ fan (some years ago) that wasn't taken seriously.

Definitely hair. I mean, Michael almost lost all his lovely  hair in that Pepsi incident. I love his hair. It's one of his best features. I can't imagine him bald. He has a uniquely shaped head, and I don't know if bald would suit him.  ;D

I love "Best of Soul Train" (the 80s episodes) I've seen every one I like on there except Prince! (Michael Jackson, Vanity 6, Apollona--solo, The Time, Sheena Easton, Vanity--solo!) It's fun to look at the fashion and hear the music because I LOVE THE EIGHTIES!!!! I like every one I've seen on there!  ;D

Did you get to see the reality show based on beauty pageants the other night on TLC?  I was gonna watch it, but then the computer was calling me...  ;)

P. S.  I love the 80s episodes of Soul Train too, they are the best!  Although the ones from the 70s are awesome as well.

Yeah I watched Miss America: Reality Check. I don't know how I feel about it. I don't really get it. I think that the Miss America pageant/organization is fine just they way it is and I think all the contestants I saw looked perfectly fine. In my opinion, they don't need a make over. They all looked pretty and intelligent. (And I compete with girls that look just like them and I look just like them as far as make up and hair goes. LOL. A lot of make up and big hair. That's what wins in these parts. You don't mess with a winning combination.  ;) )

I've never really watched the 70s episodes of Best of Soul Train, lol. But I might give a few episodes a look see.  ;D

Michael Jackson was on Soul Train four times. Once in 1972, once in 1973 and twice in 1974, all as part of The Jackson Five.
I actually have a photo of The Jackson Five on Soul Train in a book about him, but I can't locate the book at the moment. I'll scan it it in and post it when I do locate the photo. But I did find a nice one of all the brothers together.

Michael Jackson and Britney Spears performed MJ's hit "The Way You Make Me Feel" as a duet.

I think that it's just kind of amazing how the conversation beween me and my friends have changed since this performance first aired. When it first aired, my friend and I were making fun of the way Michael performed at the end. (True to the original video, Mike and some men dressed as hoodlums danced around, ending with Michael pulling his shirt open and screaming.) And we copied that scream for years.
Now none of us even watch this performance because of...well you know. The way Ms. Spears is behaving. I personally haven't watched the MJ/BS version in a year and now prefer the version of the song performed on September 10, 2001:

Michael performed the song as a solo, and I haven't ever seen a duet version of it, outside the version with Britney Spears.

Has Michael ever thought of retiring from the music business?

Actually, there was a rumour around 1988-1989 near the end of the "Bad" World tour saying that Michael would be retiring from the business. (at the ripe "old" age of 30! :o)

And that "retirement" lasted a good two years until Mr. Jackson released the "Dangerous" album and went on tour again. I personally think Michael "retired" so that he could build Neverland. He bought it in May of 1988 and he seemed convientlely disappear until the amusement park and animal habitat was constructed.  ;D

@ Bookmistress: Michael does write and produce alot of his material. For instance, he wrote his hit "Beat It" by himself.  He wrote "Black or White", "Heal the World"--most of his tunes that deal with equality and harmony. And Michael's done a heap of "variety" shows. I never saw the Seasame Street episode because (1) I wasn't born then lol and (2) I never watched Seasame Street as a kid. But it's cool that he did do Seasame Street back in the day. The picture of Michael with Oscar with the afro is just darling. He was so cute as a teen/young adult. And I love the touch of the black socks with the brown loafers!  ;D

(Most of us fans miss the "bad" look: long wispy curls.) ;) It's weird, I can always place a date on a picture (the year) by the looks of Michael's hair.

@Robby: My favorite MJ album cover is the "Bad" album. It was the first album my mother ever bought for me by Michael and it's always been my favorite album. (I actually passed up "Thriller" for "Bad" because at the time I didn't realize that the man on both covers was the same person! I do now and feel silly that I didn't recognize that when I was 10.)

Why does the picture of Michael and ET freak you out? I find the picture to be very endearing actually. (I also have it on my wall, it appeared on the cover of the December 1982 issue of Ebony Magazine.)

I think the photo of them makes perfect sense. Michael is quite misunderstood like ET was in the movie and both seem not of this earth. (I mean that in the sincerest way possible.)  :)

But I guess I expect the "unusual" from Michael. I like quirky people. I mean Michael has a zoo and amusement park and disney version of the Pirates of the Carribean ride in his backyard. I'd think it would freak me out more if he DIDN'T have a photo of himself with ET.

Who would thought Michael had a love for animals and kids.

I think as a kid, that's what appealed to me about Michael Jackson. The way the he has maintained his childlike qualities and his adoration of animals. I find him to be very endearing and interesting.  :) And I wish I had pets like that. All I had as a kid was a terrier. (who's in doggy heaven now.)

As far as I know, Bubbles the chimp is living in an animal sanctuary, and no longer with Michael Jackson full time. Bubbles is kinda old for a chimp, he's like 25 years old. I don't know the life expectancy for a chimpanzee, but 25 years is old. I liked Bubbles. I once had a Beanie Baby monkey that I named Suds (after Bubbles) for my MJ doll when I was younger. I have no idea where Suds is now. LOL  ;D I'm silly.

I think at one time Michael actually had a female chimp too, but I can't remember her name. (She wore little earrings and stuff too! ) I'll have to find the tape of Joe Jackson's birthday party because I think he named her too.  :)

@Howard: As cliche as it sounds, Michael's favorite video is Thriller. He likes it because it was so innovative and even 24 years later is still groundbreaking. (Dec 2, 2008 marks the 25th anniversary of the video)

Why did the Jacksons break up in the late 70's or was it early 80's?

Hey Howard,

The Jackson Five left Motown Records in 1976 because Joseph, and the rest of the Jacksons felt that they had no creative control over thier careers or music. The Jackson five moved CBS/Epic records, but Jermaine stayed behind at Motow because at the time, he was married to Berry Gordy's daugher Hazel, and was trying to pursue a solo career. The Jackson Five had to give up thier name because Motown owned the name and rights and logos  and changed thier  name to The Jacksons, replacing Jermaine with Randy. (Also in the late 80s, under the The Jacksons name, Tito, Randy, Jackie and Marlon released an album called 2300 Jackson Street.)

Now they are just called "The Jacksons" whenever they perform whether it's five or all six brothers performing.

--Actually, the voices of the Jackson Five cartoon charaters weren't performed by the Jacksons. Other little boys voiced the parts. The only time you hear the actual Jacksons voices is in musical numbers.
--I hope I can remember this correctly, Michael Jackson has known Vincent Price since he was a kid (said Vinny scared him then) but when the time came around for Thriller to be recorded and the "rap" inserted, Michael instantly thought of Vincent. He did have a very scary voice.  :)
--It's Rockwell who did "Somebody's Watching Me." And Rockwell is one of Berry Gordy's sons and for a while he and Michael were semi-related since Jermaine was married to Rockwell's (real name: Kenneth) sister Hazel. And little known fact, both Michael and Jermaine sing backup on "Somebody's Watching Me". I love that song, and the video. I like to think of it as a low budget version of Thriller.


@Howard: Um, I don't know. I guess synthesizers and drum machines and things of the sort provided a "cooler" sound to the music. I like ths sound of nearly all the songs from the 80s I've heard. But I do appreciate hearing a real instrument every now and then. Prince once said that anyone can record and manipulate a sound, but it takes real talent to create it.

All the clothing for the dancing zombies were bought at the Salvation Army and ripped with razor blades and wetted down with water to give an "aged" effect.

Rick Baker, the Thriller make up artist, makes a cameo in the video as a zombie. (During Vincent Price's rap, he's the zombie emerging from the masoleum.

I have heard that Michael's brother Tito was supposed to get a reality show, but I don't know what the status on it is. Jermaine was on Big Brother in the UK and Latoya was on one about celebs being policemen. It was nice.

@Philip: I'm not sure as to what the official name of that emsemble is, but us fans just know it as the HIStory tour outfit. It's like a metallic-y, shimmery version of his military style outfits. It's cool. I like it and am trying to create a pageant outfit based on it.

@Philip and Howard: This picture was not taken in 1987. It was taken ten years later in 1997. I know because I've studied Michael's outfits for years. In 1987, Michael was on the Bad World Tour and basically wore black, and leather, and chains and that sort of thing. This is from the HIStory World tour, and I beleive he was mimicing the outfit on the statue of him on the cover of the HIStory album. (Darn good album too!) As far as the hair goes, after a stint of straight hair, and short hair, by 1997, Michael had returned to the long curly locks. (I flipped when I saw it short for the first time) (My friends call it a strange talent I have, because I can look at ANY photo of Michael and tell you what year it's from. Go ahead, try me!) And his hair should be thinner, I mean, Mike is moonwalking close to 50. LOL.  ;)

@Howard: Michael Jackson is almost 50 years old. (It feels so weird to say that. He's perpetually 30 to me! LOL!) But I'm sure that he does a little maintinence here and there. I can't imagine him with grey hair. It foreign to me to see him with a beard! LOL!

@Philip: It's okay. Don't feel overwhelmed.  :) But just think about it, all that gold and silver would be a bit much on a gril who's a foot shorter and about fifty pounds smaller than Michael Jackson.  ;D

@Bill: Yes, Michael released a movie in 1988 called Moonwalker. The movie was a mix of things. It contains the 88 Pepsi commercial did where Michael sings "You're a Whole New Generation" to the Bad song tune. And it has concert footage of him on the Bad World tour, a retrospective of the first 25 years of his career and accomplishments, an all child version of the Bad video--called Badder--and the long form version of the Smooth Criminal video. And a live version of him performing Come Together.
The movie was realsed on VHS (and later DVD) world-wide with a theatrical release in Japan.

They are Tito's three sons. (l-r TJ, Taj and Taryll) I used to be really into them before I got into Prince, and they were a nice boyband. They don't really sing together much anymore but have really strong following. TJ just recently got married, Taj is currently directing a horror film and Taryll is going solo and actually wrote a song for Hilary Duff's last album. (I don't know which one, because I don't listen to Duff Stuff.) I have all two of thier albums. LOL.

You Rock My World was his last #1 as far as I know and that was WAY back in 2001. (I still remeber hearing it on the radio for the first time.)

If I had to choose, I'd have to say probably You Are Not Alone, it's such a classic, pure song. It's wonderful and I love it.

Wow...sing or dance. I know either way I answer, I'm gonna upset some fans. LOL. I suppose dancing because no one can dance like Michael Jackson--though Chris Brown imitates him ALOT--and it's one of the things that makes him unique. I mean you can't speak of Michael Jackson without talking about the dancing!

Something I'd like to see Michael do. I've been saying this for years--collaborate with Prince! I don't care what they do, sing together, dance in a video, slap box in the street, just something together. I just want to see the purple world collide with the glittery one and see what comes out of it. Michael and Prince are both spectacular, wonderful artists. The only thing that kept Bad from being a duet was that Prince dislkied the first line of the song and Michael refused to change it. I heard the story straight from Prince's little pouty mouth!

Something I saw Michael do before...gosh. I really wish someone could find another "lost" clip of Michael dancing or singing with James Brown. I always loved watching the two of them together and Michael seemed really, really happy. That and for him to make a comeback.

My all time favorite Michael Jackson moment is what us fans call V-DAY (June 13, 2005) when Michael got vindicated on his trial. That was just such a watershed moment. My best friend and I were floating around on a pink cloud of happiness for a week after the trial. It was surreal. For like a month after the verdict, I kept turning to CNN to watch Michael walk into court, and it took the longest for me to realize, it was over. LOL. We still laugh about how we reacted. I was running circles around my house screaming, and she was across town at her house doing the same thing! LOL!

Bubbles is in a pet sanctuary. I keep wondering if Michael will eventually do like Paris Hilton and start toting around a small dog.  ;D

@Phil: Neverland is not going on the auctioning block. Word in the MJ community is a loan is saving it. Besides, I can't imagine Michael living in a house like a...well...like a normal person. I'm used to thinking of a zoo and amusement park in the back yard. LOL. I mean he bought Neverland when I was two, that's all I know, it'll be weird if he just lives in an ordinary house.  :(

@ Howard:  I think that Michael's make up was mostly made of heavy pancake foundation and tinted with greasepaints. But if you look really closely, you'll see his hat is made from an old popcorn box and this his nose (the character's, not Michael's real nose!) is made from the wrapper off a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. (I'd like to smell peanut butter all day!) ;D
It was pretty cool. I heard that it took 4 hours to make Michael up everyday.

@Philip: I've been hearing that rumour for about 2 months. I won't start saving up my money until I see a statement from Michael Jackson confirming his participation. I've been waiting almost thirteen years to see Michael. (I could have seen in 1997, but my mom refused to go to Hawaii to see him!) I want to see him.  ;D And I kinda soubt Michael making a move to the UK. He's holding onto the Neverland Ranch, there is buzzing that he might move back. I don't know. Does Michael celebrate Easter?

Yes! Michael celebrates Easter. I'm not sure what he did this year, but I know that at Neverland, there used to be a big egg hunt. I even got an egg hunt from the early 90s on it. (I dunno why I wasn't invited, I was 6 at the time!) It was super cute, Michael with a couple of his nieces and nephews. One of the nephews even broke a raw egg on Michael's head. (And Michael put his hat on over it! LOL!)

I have a very funny story about Neverland. (If it interests anyone). A few years ago, my friend Stacie, and I were in high school together and Stacie loves Michael almost as much as I do. So one day in gym class were hanging on the bleachers and she asked,
"What does it cost to get into Neverland?"
And I was like what?
She asked again.
She thought that since Neverland has it's own amusement park, that Michael would would charge you to go in.
I had to explain that Neverland was a private residence and was free to get into if you were invited. (or snuck past security. LOL)
We still laugh about it now.  :)

What is it about Michael that fascinates you so much?  Do you mind if I ask how old you are?  I think this is such a cool thread, and your enthusiasm about Michael is very cool.  I used to feel the same way about Madonna.  I still love her, but as I've gotten older my fanatic side has kinda faded.  But anyway, back to Michael.  I know he's gotten more bad press than just about anybody on this Earth, and I admittedly tend to have mixed feelings about him from time to time, but deep down he is a big part of my childhood in the 80's because he was just EVERYWHERE and it's cool to see that he still has fans like you.

So that leads me to my question...

@Howard: Depending on the quality of the jacket, and color, it can go anywhere from 200-500+ dollars. (To be honest, I never wanted the red Beat It Jacket, I always wanted the black one!)

@Bill: Wow, you really know how to ask a question man. LOL. What fascinates me about Michael is not only his talent, but the man that he is. Michael Jackson is so incredibly sweet and kind and giving and generous. And in a world like this, you don't ever really see truly nice, caring people. And Michael loves to give. Michael is the Guiness World Record holdier for contributing to the most charirites--sonewhere over a hundred. I mean yes, it's exhilirating to see him moonwalk, or perch so effortlessly on the tips of his toes, but I like who Michael is as a person, not just merely a glittery persona. I love his expression and his way of acting and speaking and dressing. He's so courteous and nice.

I will be 22 in May. (I have been a fan since I was 9)  ;D
And I like Madonna, she's still pretty cool.

Moment: Sweeping the 1984 Grammy Awards. That was the best and he looked so cute.

Video: Alot of cats would say "Thriller" but for me, it's all about "Bad". I was so crazy about the album "Bad" when I was a kid. I love how Michael tried to be tougher, like a PG version of Prince. It was great.
Tour/Album: BAD. The costumes were sensational, and the dancing and everything!

Not sure if this has been asked...Do you think Michael lightened his skin? I have my own opinion. His skin became lighter between "Thriller" an "Bad"...between this time "Prince" became hugely popular...you see where I'm going with this? Anyway, that's always been my opinion. You really can't trust what Michael says after he publicly said he'd only had 2 nose surgery's on the interview with Oprah. Don't get me wrong...There wasn't a bigger MJ fan than I was. I love all his old music up until "Invincible"...that was trash.

@Howard: I can't see Michael with a hairy chest. I start getting an image of David Hassellhoff in my head, and Mike with that kind of body hair is frighteneing. I've seen some chest fuzz on him, but it's not like he's gonna be looking like Sasquatch anytime soon.  ;)

You are right...Doesn't matter what color you are...but if you are asked if you lightened your skin, why lie about it?(I Don't believe the vitiligo crap) I also agree that Thriller sold way more albums than Prince, but by the time Prince hit it big, Thriller was by the way side. Hi Yall! I see you asked some really interesting questions!

@Butterball: It never actually crossed my mind to be concerned with how much cosmetic surgery Michael has had done. Whether he's had two or twenty nose jobs, I do't care. I accept him as he is, and have moved through his physical changes without batting an eye. I like him just as much in the "Beat It" video as I do the "You Rock My World" video. In my circle of friends, the talk isn't "Did you see how Michael looked?" It's usually, "Did you see what Michael wore?" or "Did you hear that wicked high note he hit?" It doesn't matter. I've been following Michael since 1995. And even as a kid, it didn't bother. I mean if it makes Michael feel better "work" on his appearance, I have no say in it. It's Michael's decision. I'm happy with him. I wouldn't keep buying his albums and posters and tshirt and dolls if I wasn't a pleased fan.

@Howard: That was a rumour. Michael didn't want to freeze himself. Besides at this point in time, it's impossible to freeze a human being and later thaw them them ot and then bring them back to life. If Michael did get cryogenically frozen and thawed, he would be a human Slushies because the composition of his body will have radically changed. (I watch the Discovery Channel alot LOL.) But seriously it's a rumour, and he doesn't own a hyperbaric chamber at his home, either.  ;)

@Bill: In the MJ world, the word is actually "Shamone" LOL. And I say it alot.  (My friends laugh at my MJ impersonation. LOL. But I know alot of look alikes.)

@Butterball: I love that song and the (concert) version of the video. The Bad tour was the stuff!  ;D

@Howard: Michael likes to toss that in there because it shows that's he's feeling the music and what he's singing and he's caught in the moment and it's kind of a like a little chunk of excitement that breaks free and pops onto the record. I like it. The little hiccups and breaths and all. It's neat. (And alot easier to imitate than the screams of Michael violet counterpart.)

What was your favorite song from the "Dangerous" album and why?

Gosh, my favorite track from the Dangerous album? They're all so good, it's a really well constructed album, but if I had to choose a favorite track, it would probably be Who Is It. The song is just so sad and haunting and dark and I love it. And the European version of the music video is awesome. (It had a storyline whereas the American version is just a retrospective of Michael's career.) You just don't get to see Michael that deep that often. Alot of the time he's bubbly and happy and jumping around on his toes or Moonwalking, and to see him just slow it down and hear it, it really is amazing.

There's just something special in Michael's voice, he just emotes so well.

@Bill: I'm glad that you like the song too.  ;) A favorite Michael Jackson lyric. Gosh man. LOL. I have 40 MJ cds to choose from. LOL. But one lyric that immediately popped into my head is from Bad "...If you don't like what I'm saying, then a-won't you slap my face! You know I'm bad, I'm bad, shamone..." I always thought it was funny, because I've never actually seen anyone hit Michael and if the video would have been done as a duet with Prince, I wonder who would have slapped whom?  ;D

@Howard: I love the video. I love all the stars in the video, Eddie Murphy, Iman, Magic Johnson, the guy that played Deebo in the Friday movies. And I really liked Michael's look in the video. Up until I saw the video, I was used to the long curls, and to see it sleeker and straigher was awesome. Plus the video was set in psuedo-Egyptian style palace with "Pharoah Ramses" and I love all things Egyptian (at one time I wanted to be an archeolgist/egyptologist) And I had never really seen anyone do anything like that. It was awesome.  I never get sick of Michael, he's fascinating.

I really like how Michael put his own spin on the traditional Egytian ensemble. The only complaint my friends and I have about it is we wonder why Michael wore the golden turtleneck. What are the other brothers working on these days or are they just retired?

Hi Howard. (I can always rely on you for an interesting question! LOL!)

None of Michael's brothers are "retired". Mostly all of them at some point in time make money from playing personal engagements.

But from what I hear, Jackie runs his own music label called Jesco Records. His son Siggy (Sigmund Esco, Jr.) is a rapper on the label.

Tito is probabbly most active in music. (After Michael and Janet) In 2003, he released an album and toured around California. I tried extremely hard to get his album, but couldn't get a hold of it. I have both of his son's group 3T's albums. (Pretty good stuff.)

Jermaine has been married five times--even once to his brother Randy's ex-wife!--and has 8 or 9 children. He publicly converted to Islam and is the most vocal in showing his support of Michael. A tasty little tidbit: Jermaine and Randy both have children with the same woman, making their kids cousins and half siblings.

Marlon is the only Jackson to still be married to the same woman. He and his wife Carol have been married almost 33 years. His wife is an ex model and he has done several b-movies since the 1980s including The Counselour. Had a minor hit in 1989 (?) with a song called Baby Tonight. He is CEO of the Black Family Channel and is starting to produce 3D animated films. The man is busy!

For a spell, Randy had his own band that made one album and then split up.  He is now the CEO if Modern Records.

Why did Jermaine leave the group in 1976?  ???

Technically, Jermaine did not leave the Jackson Five. They left him. Im 1976, the Jackson Five chose to leave Motown Records in favor of joining CBS/Epic Records because they wanted to have more creative control over thier music. (Most of the J5 music was written by Holland/Dozinger/Holland and 'The Corporation", not the Jacksons) Jermaine, at the time, was married to Berry Gordy's daughter Hazel and stayed with the company under the promise of having a "successful" solo career. And he had a few hits with Daddy's Home, Let's Get Serious and Dynamite. That's basically it in a nutshell.

A little tidbit, as far as I know, Motown Records still owns the name "The Jackson Five" and all the logos too, so if they put together five more guys and called them the Jackson Five, it would turn into a HUGE legal deal. (That's why J5 became The Jacksons)

Hi Guys!

@Mr. Mister: Be happy I have a sense of humour.  ;) That is my least favorite photograph of Michael Jackson. I hate the "mug" shot. It represents a time in Michael's life that I'm sure all of us fans wished never happened.  But that is a nice touch of them stenciling his face in with large crayons like he's a "color by numbers" drawing.  :) But I've seen Michael without make up, not in photographs, but on tape. In the "Michael Jackson Home Movies" that aired a few years ago, Michael celebrated Christmas with Elizabeth Taylor and he's not wearing make up. (Maybe just eyeliner)  Michael's Vitiligo has left him with quite a bit of discoloration and freckling of his skin, and the make up just evens it out.

@Butterball: I'm not sure as to who does Michael's make up now. About a year after the trial ended he released Karen Faye, and she had been his artist since like 1987.  I mean it's not that much that Michael does. Just a little pancake foundation to even himself out, eyeliner, mascara and maybe some lip balm.  I'm sure he does it up for photo shoots and concerts and things of the lilke, but Michael seems like a low mantinence type of guy. I think perhaps he does his own make up now. I think that the eyeliner is tattooed on, I dunno about the lip liner. I've not seen anything recently of Michael without make up.

The only time I was scared of Michael's appearance he had been (alledgely) manhandled by the police and had a baseball sized bruise on his little forearm.  I was just shocked because I had never really seen Michael hurt outside of the Pepsi commercial incident. Yes...I guess it's all about WHEN we first became fans. I keep forgetting you're a touch younger than me.  ;D  I actually went to MJ's concert in Brisbane (in the 90's I think) and was a little dissappointed with the show. He was in great voice and danced well.....some of my favourites were done in a medley and not in their entirety..... :-\\  and I thought the sound engineering was not as good as it should have been also.  But overall...it was still a great experience..  :)

I loved it! LOL) I'm not sure if he went during the Dangerous tour, but both were great.  :) I'd love to see him, but I just think I'd pass out. And I'd throw up if I spend 500 dollars on a ticket and pass out before he sings one note!

Have any favorite MJ parody like from Weird Al, "In Living Color", or other videos that poked fun of him like Niel Young "This Note's For You"?

Hello Woops!

I have several MJ parodies that I like, but I like the ones Weird Al Yankovic did the best because, not only were they side-splittingly hilarious, he actually asked Michael's permission to parody him. Plus, the Fat video was filmed in the same NYC subway as the the original Bad video. Those were really artful and funny.

I also like some of the "In Living Color" parodies too, but my favorite actually isn't an MJ parody per se. It's a play off of Michael Jackson's video "In the Closet" but instead of portraying Michael and Naomi Camplbell like in the video, instead it was "Joe Jackson" trying to beat up "Latoya" I really loive the parody chorus. "There's something about you, La-toya, what makes me want to strangle  y-ou!!" One of the best ones I ever saw was on Mad TV and "Michael" gets sent to boot camp for something, but he's in the barracks, holding a stuffed monkey and singing "Ben" I laughed until I almost puked, it was so funny!

Did you see the commercials for the Miss USA pageant?  It seemed like they were ridiculing their own contestants - showing where one lady slipped and fell when she was in the Miss Universe pageant and they highlighted the other girl that gave a stupid answer to the interview question.  It was a weird advertising gimmick if you ask me, but I guess they were trying to attract the people that like to see people make fools of themselves so they can ridicule them.

I didn't see the commercials. I think I actually missed the entire pageant.  :( I'm mad at myself for missing it, because I usually watch all the pageants. Miss Texas, Miss Texas USA, Miss America, etc, I don't know where my mind was to miss that. LOL.

But I can't beleive that they shoed highlights of mishaps. That's not very, um, professional. Yes, accidents do happen, but I'd really hate for it to be replayed over and over!  :-[

@Mr. Mister: It doesn't really make me feel old. I'm only 21. (I'll be 22 in exactly 3 weeks!) And I don't consider Michael or Madonna or that whole crop old at all. They're just mature and a hell of a lit better than these cookie cutter wannabes coming out of hollywood by the dozen! I suppose that Michael might have a party or something like that. I mean I'm sure he wouldn't let 50 go by with out marking it in someway and yes I'm sure he has a few hits left in him. The remixes from Thriller 25 are selling like hotcakes.  ("I like the way he rock, the way he rock!...")

Why does the award look broken or is that just the way it is? ???

A question about Michael Jackson:  Why doesn't Michael Jackson shave his face closer before putting on foundation?  The stubble/foundation look is nasty.

@Howard:  No Michaels' award is not broken! It's made like that on purpose. It kind of makes me think of the Phantom of the Opera mask. I love it.

@Midnite: I don't exactly think that the reason Michael's foundation looks uneven is because of his stubble. I just think that maybe he might be wearing a shade of foundation that isn't quite matched to his skin tone. Between 1987 and maybe 1993, Michael's complexion changed quite drastcally, and I'm sure it was hard to keep up with the change.  :(

Michael and Janet, from what I've heard speak to each other a few times a week. They are extremely close. But they both have demanding schedules and the Jacksons are a working family, so it is hard to get together at each other's house, and you know just hang and watch a ballgame. LOL.  ;) But I've heard Michael say that he and various members of his family set aside time to spend together.

And as far smiling go, to be honest, if you practice it too much, the smile will be really still and unnatural looking, and from what I've learned is that judges like to see girls/women with natural smiles. The way I get my natural smile, and it's really silly, I've been doing it for years. When I look at the judges, I pretend that Michael Jackson is standing right behind them, and just pretend that I'm smiling at him.
And I wouldn't want to come off as fake to Michael, so I appear happy and bubbly to the judges. And I have a couple of little girls (they're my mom's friend's daughters) that I semi-coach, and I tell them the same thing, "Pretend your favorite singer is behind the jusges and smile at him or her."  (They smile at Prince and Zac Efron! LOL!)

Michael loves the actors of old Hollywood like Fred astaire and Ginger Rogers, Gregory Peck, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren. (many of them are his friends). Michael loves the old musicals like "Road to Utopia", "The Wizard of Oz" If it it hasn't changed, Mike's two favorite movies are ET: The Extraterrestrail and The Elephant Man. (He claims he identifies very much with both characters.) And NO Michael doesn't own the Elephant Man's (John Merrick's) bones! LOL!  ;)

Michael loves great singers in general. Everyone from the late James Brown and late Jackie Wilson to current acts like Beyonce and Chris Brown. (I actually don't really care for Chris myself, but if Mike likes him, he must be okay. LOL.) He just likes people who exude a great amount of talent and charisma. My friends and I are still waiting for one of Michael's children to become an entertainer. (I have my money on Paris.  :) ) But back on topic, I know Michael likes old show tunes (like Up Up and Away) old Beatles songs, and even some of the rap music out today. I've heard talk that Michael can rap, but I've neve rheard him do it. LOL. He came very close to it on one of his songs though!

Mike's favorite songs of himself are "Ben" "Billie Jean" (he owes everything to "Billie Jean!") "Dancing Machine". "The Lost Children", "Childhood"  I think that Michael likes pretty much all of his songs. I know that Michael is quite a perfectionist and he likes for everything to be just right before he releases it. (There is actuaslly a story that the hit song "Thriller" almost didn't get released because Michael didnt' like the arangement of it, and actually left the recording studio in tears. I'm not sure hwo true it is, but I'm glad he made "Thriller!")

And YES, Michael has described himself hudreds of times as being "painfully shy". I really find Michael's shyness very endearing. I like to hear him get on a microphone and speak in that little falsetto. But if you just look at the way Michael dresses, you kind of see that he's trying to appear more confident than he is. I'm not saying that he's not confident, but he is very very introverted. Michael tries to show power by wearing those glitzy military jackets and the glove. I honestly think that it's Michael's personality that has kept me as a fan. I mean Michael is the best entertainer in the world and he does seem real and almost approachable. He could be a total male diva and have a head the size of the Goodyear blimp, but he doesn't. He's very grounded and sweet and generous. I didn't intend for this answer to be so long, but after almost 13 of being a Michael Jackson fan, I have thought about more than "How does he stand on his toes for so long! LOL)

Has Michael ever said publically whether he is grateful that he started his career so young (not sure how old he was when he started but he was just a little kid.)  Or would he maybe have preferred to have had a somewhat normal childhood and started singing publically later in his mid-late teens?

I've heard Michael make dozens of speeches over the years, and yes, he is grateful to have had such a long and successful career, but he does regret that he wasn't able to do the things that normal children are able to do. I remember hearing Michael tell someone that the Mototwn Recording studio was across the street from a park and when he was a child he wanted to so badly to play ewith the other children, but couldn't. And he said he'd cry and cry.  :( (Michael is one of only 2 celebrities that have actually made me cry speaking about his childhood. Belevie it or not, the other is Prince.) Though Michael is sad about missing out on playing with other children as a child, he is thankful for the knowledge and oppourtunites he was presented with as a child in the music business. Michael is so talented, that I think he would have made a hit whether he started at 9 or 19.  :) I just feel bad that he missed out. But I feel for him and understand where he's coming from. Our childhoods are a little similar.  :)

Michael I trhink would like to see his kids get into the music industry, but he wants them to wait until they're in thier late teens at least. He wants them to expierience being kids. Michael's children are.

I'm not really sure about online fanpages. I know that his brothers were really active in the groups during the trial--though none of them dropped by my websites!  >:( --but I know back in the day of handwritten letter fanclubs, Michael used to write back and personally autograph items and even invite fans to his house! (Oh, if this were 1988 again!)

Martin Bashir is an x-rated term in the MJ community. Fans just don't have a very nice view about him. (And I'm being very cordial in my reference of him right now.) ::) The thing about the Living With MJ interview is Michael felt that Martin was his friend. He lugged Martin Bashir around for 8 months filming this documentary and he thought that Martin was his friend and he was lulled into thinking that Martin would help him kind of rebuild his image by tearing down the walls that surrounded him. Now yes, it is probably the most in depth interview Michael has ever granted and I'll bet you a steak dinner it'll never happen again. I just hate that Martin in the end kind of twisted Michael's words around and made him look like a freak and a pedophile and just bad. I think I took the trial and things like that pretty well I suppose, I mean I've learned that alot of people try to take advantage of Michael and his wealth and try to hurt him. My best friend was a mess over the trial, but I was mostly the support system for my group of friends. (And during the trial, membership in my MJ club actually spiked rather than fell.) The celebrity not only has to have a thick skin, his fans do too.
I got alot of hell from the trial--pardon the expression--because everyone I knew, knew that I liked Michael, but eventually left me alone because they saw they couldn't bother me.
I just kinda wish Michael could be as tough as some of his fans are. And I know he's a sensetive person. I don't mean to drag on for so long, lol, but the Bashir thing is something that should be spoken about.
Should that kind of offer arise again, I hope that Michael does be more careful and make full use of the term, "NO COMMENT".  :)

I once heard Michael say that he was godfather to Barry Gibb's son--actually named Michael--and he's also Nicole Richie's godfather. (Along with Prince which I'm sure made for an interesting childhood!) Elizabeth Taylor and Macauly Culkin are the godparents to all of Michael's children. (Mac was actually only 17 when he was dubbed Prince-Michael's godfather!)  I don't know who Michael's godparent's are. @ Mr. Mister: Karma for that hilarious montage of MJ song titles. I loved it. Really funny. And what exactly do you want me to tell you about the trial? It'll be all day just describing all the funky suits Michael wore to court.  ;D

@Philip: I was really hounding the television during the trial. I had to see what he was wearing everyday, and if he looked healthyor not. (He got really thin during the end of trial) How the fans reacted. Then I was chatting with fans discussing Michael's fashion choice and how it compared with what he wore the day before, and how the defense was working and how underhanded the prosecutuon was. And then I was watching the reenactments every afternoon and spreading the wortd around to the fans who were out of the loop. It was really painful at times to watch, but out of respect and support of Michael, I did, and I was running around the neighborhood when the verdict came in!

@Howard: Michael Jackson? Last in jail? Not trying to be a pessimist, but no. Michael is accustomed to a certain glittery, soft lifestlye and for him to be tossed out of that into jail with criminals, lord help him. Actually in the MJ commnity, there was a sect of fans that were truly, truly afraid that if Michael went to jail, he would commit suicide while incarcerated. I never beleived that bruhaha. I'm just glad everything kind of fell in Michael's favor. I don't know what it would have been like if Michael had gone to jail. A lot of us joked he could be a rapper when he got out, but mostly we hoped they're be no jail. When he got held the first time, they roughed him up something fierce:

Now this came from him just being in holding with handcuffs that were too tight. Michael alleges that while he was in holding, he had to use the restrroom--a normal request of any man--and that the bathroom he was allowed to use had, um, human excrement smeared all over the walls and as Michael used the bathroom, people were outside asking him "Is the smell okay? You like the smell Michael? Hmm? You like that?" I heard him tell this to an interviewer from 60 Minutes. I have it on tape, but refuse to watch it anymore because it's just too sad. I can't prove yey or nay, but if it did happen, poor Michael.  :(

My best--at home MJ friend is Stacie. My other friends like MJ, but like Prince more. Cant please them all. LOl. But I do have a lot of MJ friends online. A lot of people are in my fanclub, and we get along okay.

If as many people lived near me that were fans as I had friends online, it'd be an MJ party everyday. LOL!

@Bookmistress: I can't really recall all of Michael's dates. In the early days I saw with everyone from his brothers to Lola Falanna (however you spell it). But most of his dates I know are Brooke Shields--she went to the 84 and 93 Grammy awards--and actually Mike's date for the 88 Grammys were Tatiana (girl in the way you make me feel vid) and mostly the rest are Elizabeth Taylor. And of course I was his date to all of them--sitting on my couch rooting for him.  ;D

Michael set the record in 1984. He won 8 Grammys in one night, I think only Carlos Santana has tied that record. If Mike would have won everything he was nominated for, he'd have gotten 12 awards.  ;) I love the Grammys. It's so cool.  :)

And Michael can swim. I've seen him swimming in his own pool and playing around at waterparks. He can swim. He looks cute in swim shorts too. He doesn't swim too much now because of his skin. But he does swim every now and then.  ;)

@Mr. Mister: I see you've been reading the National Enquirer.  ;D That whole hyperbaric deal was a hoax. It was a staged photograph. My mother was in a hperbaric chanber and she had to put on scrubs. You can't go into it with jeans and t-shirt llike Mike had on. That was staged. And wehenever Michael does go to Heaven, he will be put away ALONE. The elephant man's bones are on display in England and that's where they're going to stay. 

@Howard: Of course that hurt.  :( Michael is a slim man and they just kinda threw him around like a rag doll.

@Phil and Howard: Yes. Mike wore pjs to court because he had hurt his back and couldn't really fit into a regular suit. Poor dear.  :(

Michael took Madonna to the Academy Awards in 1991. You had asked about the Grammys sos I didn't think of that.  ;) Michael took Manny to the Grammys in 1984 with Brooke Shields and also the 1984 American Music Awards.  ;D And as for Corey Feldman, I didn't really dig what he did in the late 80s. I know he liked Michael alot, but the dressing like him was a little bit over the top. He's a nice actor though.  :)
