Middle-earth is an alternative history, not a parallel universe.
God exists in Middle-earth, he is called Eru. There is no Jesus, but there are angels called the Maiar.

I do not love them, I have not read any of the book or seen any of the available films.

why doesn't everybody realize the lord of the rings movies suck? the writing is lame, the characters are wooden and stereotypical, the action sequences are overproduced and soaked in special effects and totally not dramatic or exciting.

Even Enya resigned from the last two over arguments with other music staff on the film.

I hate when people say they love the movie because the action was apparently so cool.. Just because you copy a computer-generated animation of an orc running 15 thousand times and put it on one screen doesn't make it cool.. it makes it excessive.
