It looks as if all of the scores have been reset.
This will excite a lot of people who have been trying to achieve the goal of King or Queen of the Arcade. :)
This might also upset a few people who have now lost their titles. :(

Either way, if you run into issues with any games in the arcade, just post it here and we will look into it for you!

Thanks Tam for getting this straightened out.  Sadly there's ZERO ability to upgrade the arcade.  I waited on upgrading to SMF 2 partially because I hoped they'd come up with an upgrade strategy, but apparently the authors of the modification didn't want to be bothered with it.

I need to delete the folders for the games that shouldn't be installed so I don't make the mistake of trying to reinstall them at some point.

One thing is certain, it sure as heck runs a lot better than the old arcade does with a ton of games in it.

I know the arcade has been bothering people for a while, and now that it is 100x faster ;) I figured I could get the jump on it.

It doesn't look at this point like the arcade needs an update. It appears upgrading the smf has taken a 'load' off of the arcade so if this is it, I am sure people are still going to be happy!

I will compile a list of all of the games I remove or rename and will be sure to update it and send it to you often.
My taking care of this takes a pain out of your neck I am sure! ;)

both times I tried to submit a score in 3d frogger it said An error occurred while saving score.

when playing 12 Swap (or 12swapIBPAG as it's currently called) it seems the games stops functioning around level 5.  basically if you play the game too long it crashes and then you can't submit your score.

A lot of the slingo games & Wheel of Fortune won't save scores.

Also, it is possible to add a little "Go To Page ___"?

That's why when you report them, I go play the game to double check, and then delete it if it isn't saving. This actually eases the load on the server. When errors are kicked, it slows the whole process.

Granted, the arcade is blazing fast right now, but in getting rid of the games that do nothing, it will ensure our arcade stays blazing fast! ;)

I played it twice... I did better the second time but it accepted my worse score as my high score.

I just played it again and purposely played bad just to see. I was 18 over par with a time played at 349,
I'm assuming seconds, and a total score of 169806 which did not register. My 2nd place score is 186699
that was a 3 over par but a little more time. The 3 over was a better game thus the higher score. I think
what the confusion is is that it isn't scoring like a normal golf game where lower score is better, because
it counts time as well that makes the higher score better......I Think  ???

I have to go check error logs to see what the games are supposed to be played at, then change them, then play them to ensure that the scores are being saved.

So is balloon shoot, and a bunch of others that I already forget names of.

If you can, please play some of the games that are recorded here as not submitting scores and I will go through the errors to correct them.

The ones that won't play... that's another problem altogether.

It seems that the game "Mah JonggJS" (this one) does not register a score unless you can clear the board; also, it registers a score based on how much time it takes you to clear the board, as there is a timer counting the seconds. (So I think it's a reverse-scoring game; I should probably be in last place.)

It most certainly doesn't need to be reverse scoring...it scores based on number of cars passed + bonus points and the bonus points are +50 or -10...this means it's a postive scoring game...  ie scores in the correct order..highest point value wins...

If you look at all the scores  the highest score on every game says

Member name - Score....the - represents a hyphen not a minus sign.

The difference is very subtle but the difference is, on your score, the - sign is right next to the number  -28260.  when you put the minus sign next to a number then it represents a negative number....when it's written as  gibbo - 130030  the hyphen is there to define the space between the name and the score... I can see where it could be confusing but in fact it's accurate..

I'm now looking at the game fourballs and that looks confusing as well.  I've gotten 102 points, the game seems to auto submit, but only once in a while.  I think a higher score would be better in that, but it didn't save for me.

That's a high score on top game.... four balls has a scoring issue tho...if you drop the balls before the 60 second mark you can save your score but it won't save if you keep your balls in play until the clock automatically reaches 60 seconds.

okay, the game is since now. The only problem is the game said I got 49 and the stupid thing Told me I already have my max score and showed me having 33.

It has a weird scoring thing...you can't go by what the score on the board says... it looks like it averages it or something... I've had few where it says on the game my score is 67 but then on the next screen it reads a score of 35... the game is broken...  or it uses very complex mathematical algorithms

I'm with you; I don't like games that automatically score, especially when you can't figure them out. It happened to me a few times on the old version of the Arcade.

I reclaimed the high score while I was in the basement doing my exercises. I only took it back
because nsr grabbed the high score. It won't be long before he/she takes the high score back, after
all there isn't a high score he/she doesn't like. I shant be playing that game anymore so have at it.

Technically it is not cheating and it does take a little effort but once you find the sweet spot the ball just bounces up and down, walk away and let score rack up.

I agree that there is a difference between a 100% cheat and something that may help, but you still have to play.

Same for me. I got several high scores too in the 100s, but it didn't submit. Lowers scores do, dunno why. Why did it score the 69 points I got and not the others? do not know.

I tried playing AvalanchySte and none of my scores get posted.

If you want to have a score submitted, you basically have to "let the balls go" before the 60 second mark. So if you have a good score and you notice there are only 5 seconds left, don't hit the last ball (or balls)..let them go by and then your score will submit.

Keep trying, you can better your score. I had 61 once, and bettered it to 69.

For "3wheelr Pp", the trick to get more points is to keep firing away (more than once) at the shooters that come up on the right hand side (just after the game starts) . Keep firing, but stop firing when the shooter dissapears from the screen otherwise you lose points.

I just played it and had no problem

I just played it again now, and the ball went right through the paddle all 3 times, lost all 3 lives..but it between I bettered my score. I think it's just part of the game. Maybe the paddle isn't as long as the graphics make it out to be.

I think so.  having extra games that don't work right, things that don't record, and versions of games that just suck in the game room still makes me not want to play here as well as I use to.

I think so.  having extra games that don't work right, things that don't record, and versions of games that just suck in the game room still makes me not want to play here as well as I used to.

Yeah, nsr doesn't post much of anything, but nsr is a member here and nsr is allowed to play the arcade games as much as anyone else, don't you think?

I wasn't thinking about anyone when I said what I said.  It's just always been the case that people that don't post much or at all play in the arcade.  I don't think we need to force them to post.

There've been a few in the past, for the old version of the Arcade games. One of them would always wrestle me for the Tetris crown. (Said user is gone now, but it was quite a battle.)

I understand what you are saying, but they aren't "your" crowns, they are just public games. And if someone can post a very high score, good for them in my opinion. I use to have to get scores in the 100 000 's just to knock off the second place person holding the most high score games.  The original champ is still around, but I don't think he plays games like he use to.

I have no issues with members only playing the arcade (and little to nil posting). I admire nsr's skill level. Some of those crowns will never fall. He/she keeps high scoring on 'WOW'. It takes me months to attain that level ... and then he/she wins it back in days!

I just tried and it works for me. Must be your computer.
I know there are some games that don't even load for me. Other games that do load but whatever I do, (left click, right click, hit space bar, jump on space bar, bang keyboard continuously, pound keyboard with large anvil) nothing happens.

Some of the scores I see indicate a computer/game glitch. There is no way someone can achieve millions in those games without a glitch in the scoring. ... or maybe I'm just not smart enough to discover the secret!  :-\\

Of course there's a lot of games that I just refuse to play (anything Super Mario, or the ones that require rapid hand/eye coordination), and others that have high scores that are impossible to beat (I don't see a point in going for second place). 

I'm rather proud of the few crowns that I'm holding, and I won't be parting with those without a proper fight.

the "s" works for me, but since I really don't like these types of constant nonstop repetitive shooting games, I won't play it.

Yes, shooting with mouse button, firing away non stop. Moving up and down, left to right to try and shoot better. Score for distance?  I guess not. I usually get killed after 10 seconds. Most of my scores are less than 1000 points. I guess something must not be working right for me in this game, I'll pass.

Me too, still do. I keep trying to beat my best scores in minesweeper, but it's too hard..

I usually blow up in minesweeper or take forever.  My favorite computer game is spider solitare.  I use to have a NES and my brothers the Suprer NES and the 64.  We had our pukemon games too.  I like games where I can figure out something much better then a Mario Bros game although I'll play both.  No more raising anything to levels.

Yeah, that game is all about speed...how fast it takes you to clear all the squares not occupied with bombs. Only once on the "Beginner" level I got a single-digit time. Must've been luck.

I got REALLY lucky in the beginner level. I clicked the right spot. 1 second is my time. Only clicked once. That will never happen again.
My intermediate level best is 80 seconds, I find it hard to break 100 seconds without practice now.

I know you can customize how big of a grid you want, and how many total bombs are there, just as long as bombs <= (rows-1)*(columns-1). At least that's how it was on Windows95 through WindowsXP. But the customized grids don't keep your best scores (altho it is fun to try).

I found a bug in the game. When you run out of tiles, it'll give you the option to submit score or play again; you can click "Play again", and it'll give you a new set of tiles, as if you're starting anew, but really it'll add those points to your previous set. Let's say you run out of tiles at 3,000 points, and then click "Play again." Any points you earn with that set of tiles, will be added to your 3,000 points that you earned in the first set of tiles.

I have experienced that the games which don't have nay high scores yet, are games that either don't work or doesn't save your score.

I just tried the Art Thief game again, and got lucky.

I think there are at least 10 of them like that. I made a list of some earlier, not a definitive list.

I have started making a working list of such games as well. In addition to the games with "bugs" in them.

Wow. I didn't know that. I had never heard of it. Hard to believe but I never really played any computer games before coming to this site. 
When I finsihed high school in 1980, none of these games were out there. I don't even know if any of these games were "out there" when I attended College. It wasn't my scene.  I was into music/movies/girls in the 1980s  ;D

Just like you, I'm not crazy about Tetris either, or repetitive shooting games.

When I have played "Alienattack", it seems that the maximum savable score is 26 or 25. Everytime I get to level two of more , the score doesn't save.  Maybe some of you can try that game, it's not a long game. See if you can get a better score "saved" than 26, otherwise there's a glitch in that game.

think I've had that happen to me to  or at least on some game.  I hate spending a lot of time on a game to find out the score wont record.

Oh, the touchpad? Most laptops have that sorta thing in lieu of a mouse; it works just fine for me. However, there are some games in which a mouse has a better advantage. Makes me wish I had a PC sometimes.

Yeah, same for me, there is at least 1 or 2 more games like that. (like "Alienattack") It only saves your score from the 1st round.

I hear what you are saying, but as far as I know there isn't a rule that says you HAVE to post.  And I don't think there should be such rule either. These games are free for anyone to play who signs in and gets an ID. 

For the record, I got 10 to 12 emails notifying me that someone has got a "best score" in a game yesterday, in which I used to have "best score". Good for them I say! I think nsr is very talented...I'm impressed by their skill at these games..  I probably did the same to others where I first joined in (getting loads of high scores)

nally, people don't get a high score to hurt others (and I feel you are hurt) but people play just for fun and see how high a score you can get. If it's 4th best...great!, if it tops all others...great! I usually like to try and top my personal best at a game, and I'm happy with that.

You shouldn't feel upset or hurt by this, it's just a game!
If you want to get to know them, send them a pm, ask them who they are, you can ask them why they don't post much...
I don't know what else to say except I wish you weren't hurt or irritated by them.. :-[

I think I used to be able to play it on the older version of the Arcade (2006-2011) but it required a lot of skill. Not even sure if I can play it too well with a touchpad.

The Mazefrenzy games are a little tricky, search around the red dot a little until the icon changes. My arrow
changes to a hand when I've found the right spot. Also, zoom the screen. Not only will it help find the the right
spot on the dot but it will aid in solving the maze as well.

Thanks for the "rollaremedy" thing. I keep getting a time of about 36 or 37 seconds, but then I advance to a bonus round...that never materializes. So I slowed my time on purpose to about 50 seconds, and I don't get a bonus round...but then I get high score????  ???

I don't know then, I just played it to see. When I get the hand, I click, the hand disappears and the frustration

Forgive my callousness but I can't feel the same way. What irks me to no end is that we all know
there are many games with backward scoring and nsr will take and hold those titles at all cost. I am
sorry, but I have no respect for that. There is no skill involved in taking as long as you can to play a
game. That is not gamesmanship it is insanity.

I'd love to just have backward games removed.  I don't play games that don't save scores either, but others might.

yeah that would work.  I've tried all the games here and reported the backwards scoring ones and stuff.  Some have been fixed I guess, but sometimes I think there still might be some stuff that needs some taking care of around here.

I know about the AdbreaktoiletdashXec problem. Your score is there (when you check high scores) it just doesn't show up when you are playing. I wouldn't worry about that one.

The Chainreaction one is strange though. Try it again. Your score is listed as 124, so it should not take too long to pass that, and see if it saves for you.

I think everyone has scores that seem unbeatable, it depends on the individual. For example, I consider some of your "tetris" scores unbeatable. Your are good at that game!

Thanks! :) Some of these high scores take skill and split-second timing (particularly the Tetris scores if you wanna put the blocks in just the right place; of course, they start to fall faster as the level increases). Mumu also depends on skill in some cases.

I can still take games, but now I don't have a good friend to knock out of second place and the scores aren't all in the 100,000's yet.

You are not alone , I get that "session is missing" once in a while. I'm guessing other members get that message too.

I know a few of us can't get into "AvalanchySte" coz it requires a flash player. No far only loki has got a score in it.

I just played a round of Quickwords (in attempt to snatch the crown back) and did really well, until I got to a level where the six given letters were (in no order) "J A M S A P"...and I was totally stumped in trying to figure out a six-letter word to make with those letters. I thought of "PAJAMAS", but that's short one letter. Finally, when the clock ran out, it was revealed that the word was "PJAMAS". 'What the (blank)?' I thought. I never would have thought to spell the word like that...so I settled for a score of 14800, which is good enough for 2nd place... behind you-know-who.
