Subject: For arcade lovers with dough to spare

DreamAuthentics

Of course it would be more fun to build your own! (Knowing how crappy stuff is made today, would someone really wanna spend that much? (If you could get 1980s actual stuff,YES it would make a nice thing indeed!))

This site is better Home Theater Marketplace

You can meet all your home theater needs plus they have a huge selection of upright arcade games....

I just went "shopping" and the arcade of my dreams would cost me about 125,000... and I haven't even looked at the home theater furniture and equipment yet  ;D

And that is why I am glad this building already has a theater room. ;D

You think that's awesome, check out this one.  Someone built their own complete with the MAME emulator, and configured it so it takes actual coins instead of having to push a key to insert a coin

I've heard of MAME, tried playing GuitarFreaks 11th Mix on it, but it didn't work.

I am actually working on plans at this moment to start building a MAME cabinet once I get back home.

I have been a MAME fan for over a decade now.  I first discovered it in 1999, when I was looking up some old arcade games I used to play.  And I have used it off and on since then.  I even helped a friend about 4 years ago refurbish an old Defender clone into a MAME cabinet.  And I was about to pick up an old Crazy Kong cabinet about 3 years ago, when I had to abandon that thought because I joined the Army.

But in the last few months, I got back into it again.  I have collected several thousand ROMS, going back to the 1970's.  Many of them are games I have not seen in the arcades since the 1980's (Bagman anybody?  Space Duel?  Food Fight?)  And a few months ago, my wife got lucky at the casino and bought us a 52" flat screen TV.

So now I am planning on building my own MAME cabinet again.  This will be a pedistal, on locking casters so we can roll it in front of the TV when we want to play it.  And the computer will also serve as a multimedia PC (with recording and BluRay).

And the funny thing is, I recognize the picture Whistledog posted.  It is an old Xenophobe cabinet that was converted by somebody that calls themselves "LowerHell".  It is one of the ones I am planning on basing my system off of.  Here is his complete build (including earlier versions):

And here is another great source if anybody wants more info on doing it themselves:

It's a little out of my price range, but I suppose if I had a dwelling big enough to dedicate a room to a Star Wars Hotseat Prototype, I could afford the thing :)

I think anything GOOD (Like acrual GOOD games) are worth spening the dough for in my opinion!
