When I attempt a search, I get the message "you are not allowed to search for posts in this forum".

been disabled for a long time now. too many messages, it ties the board up badly.

You can search the site through Google, Bing, or DuckDuckGo without tying up the forum. Just add this bit before the search term:
site:inthe00s.com
For example, to search for Madonna videos you would put:
site:inthe00s.com Madonna videos
