I am going to finally pull the trigger on upgrading to the new version of SMF.  The spammers are hitting more often now, and I can't even run the latest upgrades anymore due to years of patches and modifications making swiss cheese of the source code.

We'll undoubtedly be missing some of the custom features at first, but I'll get them patched back in as quick as I can.

Not sure what state the arcade will be in after the upgrade as well.  The database will be backed up Friday night, so if the upgrade fails, posts made after Friday could get lost if the worst case scenario occurs and I need to restore from the backups.

no idea.  Friday night will be backups, which take a very long time to run.  Chances are good it'll be offline Saturday by noon EST.  If not then, it'll be more like 8PM EST.  I've still got to figure out what else I'm doing on the weekend before I can commit to an exact time. 

The database needs to be converted to a newer format, and with close to 3 million messages in there, I suspect it will take a good amount of time to convert it all.  The modifications and packages are mostly tested and running on another site I manage from time to time, but it's an older version, so it will take a bit of time to update them the rest of the way.

I was looking at it earlier, and I don't think I realized quite how bad it was.  Not sure what the upgrade path (if any) is like.

I do believe there is something similar to this skin available.  I'll try working on new skin options this time around.  When I installed this version, I thought I'd upgrade more often and didn't want to spend time developing skins that would end up getting discarded.  This time around I'm less afraid of that.
