While I was working on porting the code for the next software version (probably see the new software in a couple months here), I made a couple changes that I then made here as well. 

The proper poster name on highlighted messages is now displayed instead of the user name.

The most recently started topics now include the poster name instead of the date.  This should be a little more useful, since generally all the new threads are started in the past 24 hours anyways.

The newer SMF software is a lot easier to work with than the current revision (once you get over the hurdle of making the changes for the new code), so it should make it easier for new colors and themes to be used on the messageboard.

mostly just changes the color of the board.  They aren't perfect, and I haven't spent much time on them.  I'm going to try and get a couple ready before the new software arrives.

oh yes, I know about those. I experimented with them, just to see how they'd look...but I stuck with the default theme on my profile. Much easier on my eyes.

I had mentioned this to Chucky a while ago nally - I was thinking about having a default page the represented the current holiday or season. I have seen other boards who do it and actually it makes it a little more interactive. (At least I believe so) ;)

Of course, if you don't like the defualt, you can always change it to whatever you want out of the list! 8)

yeah, there's some cool ones for the current software, but I'd have to modify them to make it work due to all the changes I made to the site.  The new software will be less hassle for that kind of stuff.

Chucky removed Big Boards tonight because of the data services thing to see if it stopped it from happening.

I figured out the missing flashchat link for me - my theme is what is stopping it.  I checked the default and it is there but it is all jacked up - crowded and stuff....

It all depends on what forum theme you are using.
I am assuming that with the new software, the themes need to be recoded too...

with the new software (which might be ready by the end of next month) I will need to write new themes to replace the old ones.

I'll look at the existing themes and see if I can add in the extra links everyone is missing.  One of the nice things about the new software, is I won't have to worry about modifying every theme every time I add a new function.
