Subject: I have a non-existant message that won't go away?

I joined in September of last year, and then forgot about this place for a while since I was busy with work and moving, etc. Now I come back and it says "Hey, Wiffle, you have 1 message, 0 are new". It has said this for two days now. I click and try all sorts of things but it won't go away. And as if that isn't bad enough, there wasn't even a message there when I clicked on it!
How do I get rid of my non-existant message?

it should go away next time you get a message from someone. We had a spammer get into the personal message system, and the only method I had for removing the garbage was to delete it manually, and it ended up making a mess of the message notifications.
