Subject: No more updates on websites
For the foreseeable future, information submitted to inthe70s, inthe80s, inthe90s and most of amiright, will not be added to the website.
The current design of the website requires that every piece of information submitted is reviewed before allowing it to be added to the site. This approach was preferred when the site was only generating at most a few dozen new entries per day. Currently, there's a few hundred submissions each day, close to a thousand combined over all the websites I manage.
I tried to enlist a small group of people to review entries for me, but eventually the flood became too great for even a dozen people to review the information every day and most have given up at this point.
The solution to this problem, as I see it, is to allow everything submitted to be added immediately to the website and purge inappropriate material as it spotted. Unfortunately, the current software is not well suited to this approach, and will require a large amount of time to be modified to handle this approach. Currently, I don't have any free time to write this software, and it's not something I could ask someone to do for me.
I've decided to leave the website in it's current state, and allow information to still be submitted. This way, if/when a time comes when I can find the time to write the new software required, I can still add the information collected. I don't know when this might occur, so please do not ask.
This does not mean the information on these pages is in danger of going away. I do not plan on shutting down the website. I am just no longer able to update it. This does not give people permission to repost entire pages on their own personal websites.

I am going to try and keep the song parodies updated every day, but the other sections of amiright are up to the people who still edit them.

Thanks for the continued work to update the song parodies section. Good luck with the 'renovations'.

Is the "latest comments" section one of those which has been affected? It hasn't changed since Tuesday.
Subject: Re: No more updates on websites
Adagio, are you unable to access the "Latest Comments" at all? It's been difficult and slow but I have been able to see the ones from Wednesday and some from this morning. There is certainly a downturn in the number of comments posted but they are still appearing. It does look like a lot of the usual people are either not coming to the site or are having trouble with the comments section. I've posted some at various times over the last few hours and they are appearing.

Paul...I can access the 'latest comments' section, but they don't seem to be changing. Maybe a few are added at the bottom (very few), but the top comment always starts with a comment on my parody. It's been that way for at least a day.

ChuckyG,
Will the parody submissions be updated today? I have noticed a trend on Saturdays of late that you are not posting updates on this day. I know you suggested that you might do this in another message board post. Is this going to be standard operating proceedure now?

It isn't going to be a regular thing. I just had a very busy weekend, and just didn't have the ability to get it done. Things should return to normal next weekend.
Two weeks in a row doesn't make something regular. Though I think the week before that, it was a Sunday.

Thanks CG. I know you are getting overwhelmed with the amount of submissions and the increase in traffic on your site. I understand better than most what you are up against. Taking a Saturday or Sunday off from updating parody submissions would be alright with me.
Did I misread somewhere that you suggested maybe making parody submissions post as soon as they are submitted and then weeding out the trash after the fact? I read that statement on the site but it was unclear to me if this included parody submissions as well.

I don't think I'll be doing that for parody submissions on amiright... other sections maybe. I might do it for whatfreaks just to do something with that site for a few months, but then again, I have zero free time at the moment, so I have no idea when I could even do it if I wanted to
