Hi,
I'm relativelly new to this computer operation/fuctioning.
How do you transfer your preferred image/Pic to your profile?
I suppose you have to acquire an address, but what address!
And, I wonder if it's legal under copywrite laws to transfer pics that I downloaded onto my computer from other websites.
How does that work?
I have my own Pics that I took with my own camera, but that can be a little boring, so I go to other sites and download graphics and other pics I find cool.
I would like to find sites that offer graphics and pics free for your downloading, but it seems like these copywrite laws keep me from doing this. What's up with that!
Is there any help for this out there.

Hi Tomcat. If you want to use an image of your own, it will need to be on a website. Otherwise, once you go offline, your image will disappear.
There are a couple of ISP's that will allow you to create your own free web page, and you can upload your images there, and then link to them.
When you find an image you like, right click your mouse on it. On the menu that pops up, click on properties. There will be an internet address (or URL). Select that address, right-click, and choose "copy". Then paste that address into the box on your profile, your signature line, or the actual message area.
As for copywright laws, I've never really thought about them. I would advise using an image from a large, commercial site instead of a small personal site in order to slip under the radar. There are also a bunch of sites that have free images/avatars for you to use, but I bet someone else here will find one for you before I do... :)

There are a couple of admittedly lax rules I cling to when it comes to linking to images.
First, I don't think many of the images available are under copyright. Second, linking to this site doesn't profit me at all, or deny profit to the originator of the linked site. Third, if a site specifically asks not to be linked to, I don't.
In fact, I consider linking a favor to the host site. If you right-mouse click on an image and open Properties you get the address of the image site. If it's an intriguing enough image, I may have thrown a customer or two at them.
