March 5th 1770 - "The Boston Massacre" took place when British troops fired on a crowd in Boston killing five people. Two British troops were later convicted of manslaughter.

I have read and heard info that he may have been born the previous day (even my local classical station has mentioned the 16th as his possible birthday), but no one knows that for a fact.

May 10th 1773 – The Parliament of Great Britain passes the Tea Act, designed to save the British East India Company by reducing taxes on its tea and granting it the right to sell tea directly to North America. The legislation leads to the Boston Tea Party.
