Subject: Good 50s-60s TV shows?
Written By: Ryan112390 on 07/06/11 at 1:05 am
Hey!
Could some recommend some really great shows, particularly shows which were either produced or still airing around 1956-1968? Basically looking for the Ike-Kennedy-Johnson years in television.

It depend what you're looking for. That was the golden era of tv westerns... There were literally hundreds made. My favourites were Bonanza, The Virginian, Wagon Train, Guns of Will Sonet, Alis Smith and Jones,Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Cheyenne, The High Chapparal (okay ... there's too many to mention).
They even filled the childrens tv spots with shows like Hopalong Cassidy, The Cisco Kid, Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, The Lone Ranger etc.
There was also a lot of comedy/ variety (e.g. I Love Lucy, Jack Benny Show, The Red Skelton Show etc...
Quiz shows started coming thick and fast ...
The drama shows I remember were... Dragnet, 77 Sunset Strip, Perry Mason, Hawaiian Eye etc
I remember the show Father Knows Best too.
And this was all before Batman, Bewitched, and I Dream of Jeannie!!

I liked that too. .... and in the 60's there was a lot of light hearted comedies (that are now played exclusively in the kids time slot). Shows like... as I mentioned earlier... Bewitched, Jeannie, Get Smart, Batman, Hogans Heroes, Green Acres, The Munsters etc. I actually enjoyed The Occasional Wife.... :o
