Subject: The 60s Generation Gap
Written By: Ryan112390 on 08/23/09 at 8:50 pm
eneCan anyone tell me about the Generation Gap of the 60s? What was the genesis of it, were there any expressions of it in music or film, did any adults (over 30 in the 60s say) become "Hippies"--Were there any notable Anti-War activists over 40 in the 60s?
Are there any articles from the period wirrten by those over 40 on the younger generationn or the hippies or rock n' roll? Specifically any articles decrying the Hippies, Anti-War movement and Rock N' Roll? Did any older movie stars or musicians of the period say anything against Rock in the 60s? Say like Frank Sinatra or any of them>

From On Bohemia: The Code of the Self Exiled...
"Bohemia has been variously defined as a mythical country, a state of mind, a tavern by the wayside on the road of life. The editors of this volume prefer a leaner definition: an attitude of dissent from the prevailing values of middle-class society..."

One saw strange powerful beauties in the things the others thought were ugly. One flirted with intellectual girls and discussed with them suffaragism, birth control, the single moral standard and the outworn institution of marriage. One read a great deal of poetry and studied Marx and Freud. And one wrote about the intimate complaints of one's soul..."
In other words, bloody communists...
It's not an article but a book, excerpts from which can be read here. Unfortunatlely it's not on Kindle yet. You were probably expecting replies from older folks...
