Subject: Marilyn Monroe Question

Written By: apollonia1986 on 01/02/09 at 4:12 pm

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if someone could settle this dispite between a friend and myself. Last night we were watching some Marylin Monroe movies (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Some Like It Hot and The Bus Stop) and I couldn't help but notice that Marylin did have a fleshier figure than most of the leading ladies nowadays.

I think that Marylin's dress size is somewhere between a 10 and a 14, my friend claims she was smaller and closer to a size 6.

Does anyone know what dress size Marylin Monroe was?

Thanks!  :)

I heard two separate things...that she was size 12 or 16.  She was definitely bigger than stars today.

Marilyn Monroe was between 115 and 140 pounds her whole career. In the 1959 era, she gained about 25 pounds and reached her peak of 140, but then by 1960, she was back at about 115. Noticed how she looked skinnier between 1960-1962. She passed away in 1962.

According to my sister (a fount of Marilyn wisdom), she wore a size 12.  The sizes have changed over the years though, so it is very likely that she wore a 12 back in the day, but would have worn a 6 nowadays.

Her measurements were 35-22-35, so if anyone knows sizes and measurements, they could calculate what that is. :)

Marilyn was tiny, only 5 feet tall, and between 125 and 140 that would make her unemployable in todays culture.  She would be a 12 or 14 petite I would say

From what I remember, Marilyn's last film was "Something's Got To Give" but the film was incomplete. Do you think they could've remade the film after Marilyn's death, find a replacement or a lookalike of her? ???

The film remain as unfinished, from the beginning its production was disrupted by her personal troubles, and after her death on August 5, 1962 the film was abandoned. Most of its completed footage remained unseen for many years.

I was reading the true story of Marilyn Monroe (the magazine) for the past few days but I don't know if it was Time Life or some other company that had her on the cover ??? I think it was a black cover.
