Not sure if this is serious or not, but I think you could actually bookend "Sixties culture" with The Beatles, from them appearing on Ed Sullivan to their breakup. This was also around the time Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison died, which was kind of an end to the Woodstock era.
So basically about 1964-1971.

Yeah, this has been discussed several time before but...
My grandparents have always said that they felt like the "sixties" began when JFK died in 1963, and ended after Woodstock in 1969, so since I wasn't there I guess I'll go with them.
