Denny Doherty, of the Mamas and the Papas, dies.
This is a real shame. I love the Mamas and the Papas and I thought he had such an amazing voice.

I heard this on the news this morning. Michelle Phillips is the only one left. :\'( :\'( :\'( I wonder how she is handling this.

Wow, I didn't know that. I am from NB canada, and he was originally from Halifax NS, so as a fellow maritimer, I am deeply saddened by this. The Mamas and the Papas were a great, albeit short lived group, who despite turmoil in their ranks, gave the world some beautiful music to groove to. Between his voice, and that of Cass Elliott, their leads blended so perfectly with the harmonies of John and Michelle that often they referred to hearing that infamous "Fifth Voice" when listening to the tracks themselves. The world has lost one of the classic voices in music history. RIP Denny Doherty 1940-2007

I'm sorry to hear of Denny Doherty death. He gave us his gift of songs to be remembered by.

Denny Doherty also had a second career as a kid's show host of a Halifax childrens program called "Theodore Tugboat" in the 1990's, I believe. Don't know if it's on youtube or not, but it sure was different.

The funeral for Denny was finally held in Halifax on Saturday, and Michelle flew in from LA to pay her last respects, and to attend the funeral. It's kind of sad that all she has now to remind her of the Mamas and the Papas are memories, but it was a classy thing that she flew all that way. RIP Denny :\'(
