Subject: Pastel Toilet Paper
Written By: star500 on 06/01/06 at 11:05 am
Does anyone remember pastel toilet paper? My mom was telling me about it, there was so many colours. Pink, yellow, blue, green, you name it. It was cool! The reason they stopped it, I think was because people were taking allergic reactions to them. And also, there was pastel Kleenex. They were pretty cool for that time, but its kind of good that they don't have that out anymore. People would be reacting to more now.

Are you just asking about coloured toilet paper or a specific make?

You can still buy it can't you. It's not a specific thing that was only available before the 70's

I don't believe they make it anymore. They use dyes to make the paper different colours, which means you are basically wiping chemicals into your butt crack ;D
That can't really be all that safe

I remember 'Izal'...a strange hybrid between tracing paper and greaseproof paper!
As used in penny-pinching schools up and down Britain during the 70s...cheapskates!

Are you seriously saying you can't buy coloured toilet paper? Well, I imagined the pink stuff I used at my mum's on Saturday then!

I was somewhere quite recently that had paper similar to this. A bit softer than I recall though.

Around here they don't sell it. It's been probably atleast 15 years since I've seen it on store shelves :o

Didn't your parents teach you to scrumple it up first? That takes the sharp edges off!

Do you reckon there's a market for coloured stuff? I could start it up as a side-line!!

Good thing they never made brown toilet paper. You'd never know when you were finished!

I loved the pretty pastel colored toilet paper and tissues. I haven't seen it in any stores around here in many years.
I get catalogs from various companies selling novelty items. One had a roll printed with money patterns, so that you could pretend that you are so rich that you can afford to use dollars to do your business. ;D
I vaguley remember when Osama and Saddam were still alive, some company printed toilet tissue wanted signs with their face on he sheets. I guess if they were in the stall next door and needed me to pass over some tissue, I'd know they were the enemy. ::) ;D

If you do the fixtures and the tiles in pale pink, you want to be color coordinated!

I would love to color coordinate my green bathroom with green toilet tissue.

But a 6-pack is a $19.00 plus shipping, so that isn't happening. ;D

Maybe it's country-specific? I'm in the USA(New York State), and I honestly can't remember the last time I saw colored TP or Kleenex. Or paper towels, for that matter--I mean full-color, not white with a printed design.

My husband worked installing septic tanks for awhile and I do remember seeing it posted in their office to remind people to stick to white t.p. ... They said that the dye interfered with the bacterial action that is needed for natural decompostion of waste.
But that only applies to those who do not have city sewers, so...not sure why they seem to have flushed the colors and prints from the markets. Yes, it is still available, just not as readily as it once was.

I'm not real excited that the wrapping on my toilet paper said '100% Recycled'., for going green, i'm sure it's all good, I just would rather not think about it having been used before i got to it...

Like, Hi,
I wouldn't use either colored toilet paper OR colored tissues, because of the issue about the dyes. Of course, I don't see why paper towels couldn't be made in a variety of both pastel AND bright shades; paper towels can be used in both kitchens AND bathrooms. I LOVE the idea of pastel bathrooms, and I also love the idea of pastel bathroom accessories (Ie: Soap dishes, etc.)!

I remember them saying that the dyes used in toilet paper were responsible for irritating rashes, especially for women ::)
