Subject: Tommy James & The Shondells
Written By: Carl on 03/10/06 at 10:53 am
My first is Draggin' The Line, actually a solo hit sans the Shondells, but whatever.
Followed by Crystal Blue Persuasion and Sweet Cherry Wine

Crimson & Clover (for sentimental reasons)
Draggin' The Line (a close second)

I always liked Crimson and Clover (The Joan Jett cover of it was pretty good too)

I have to go with Hanky, Panky. I know, I know, a cheesy song, but I can't help it. I love it.
I saw them in concert in the late 80s. They were still very good. The funny thing was when they were singing "I think We're Alone, Now", my niece and her friend (who were about 12 at the time) said "They stole this from Tiffany". We all looked at them and said, "No. Tiffany stole it from them." ;D ;D ;D

Whenever that song came on the radion, my brother would always sing, "My baby loves to whip and spank me..."

The big one being the wonderful 'Mony Mony', which is what I went for...

It was a toss-up between "Crimson and Clover" and "Draggin the Line". I went with C&R (the long version) because I always liked that long guitar break. I would say that song more than any other made me want to learn how to play the guitar.
For songs not listed... not really a song but an instrumental. I can still kick back and listen to "Cellophane Symphony"

Wow, this one was hard because I love so many of their songs. However, I had to go with Crimson and Clover because that's the only song of theirs where if it comes on the radio, I stop whatever it is I'm doing to listen.
Close runner up is Crystal Blue Persusasion. That's another good one. I like a lot of their later stuff, in the late 60s and early 70s. Draggin' The Line is another good one too.

It seems that "Draggin' the line" is in there twice though. ::)

Their nostalgia peaked in the fall of 1987 when Tiffany's I Think We're Alone Now and Billy Idol's Mony Mony were consecutive #1 hits. But my pick will be Crystal Blue Persuasion. Nobody could even do a good job of covering this gem; and it's really symbolic of the times.

That's right, both of them were originally by Tommy James & Shondells...and later parodied by Weird Al!! However I think "Alimony" (the parody of "Mony Mony") reflects Tommy James' version, even though Billy Idol's cover was a hit at the time.
But my pick will be Crystal Blue Persuasion. Nobody could even do a good job of covering this gem; and it's really symbolic of the times.
It sure is. No one had better mess with it.

There isn't one song I like above the others
I like Crimson and Clover, but I've Heard it too much on the radio. I also like "Crystal Blue Persuasion" and "Sweet Cherry wine"
Voted for Sweet Chery Wine in the end
These songs were pretty popular when I started listening to music as a kid.
