I'm listening to this song on mySpace, I always liked this tune, it's fun... and funny! Anyone else enjoy it as much as me? I wonder how many actually believe the message.LOL!!!

Agreed. It's the same reason you'll probably never see a cover of Joe Tex's "Hold On to What You've Got"; "every man needs a woman...a woman who'll be right there at home to mind the children and have his dinner cooked"...or something like that. ;D

Kon Kan covered it in the 80's... I don't see anything wrong with it though, it's just a song.

I think it's perfectly amusing and catchy as a song, just so long as you don't try to profess it as a way of life or something :)
It would be interesting to see a thread on views of women in pre-1970's music, if one hasn't already been started. See how things evolved from the early days to the 1960's...

The song was based on an old calypso number called (strangely enough) 'Ugly Woman'...
I wonder if that Mr. Jagger got into trouble when he wrote 'Under My Thumb'...?!!

Before Louis Farrakhan was involved in whatever the heck it is he's involved in now, he was a calypso singer.
He performed under the name The Charmer. There's a website that talks about his singing career, and has streaming audio of some of his old songs, one of which is "Ugly Woman"
